"I guess this is goodbye huh...? ... Don't worry about it I'll take good care of it. ... T-that only happened once or... you three could at least back me up. Heh... Its gonna be lonely without you here Senpai... Seriously?! Then you wanna do something once I graduate?! ... Yeah, that'll teach me to my hopes up... Senpai... thanks." And with those parting word I waved goodbye to my four Senpai who I spent some of the best two years of my life with. I'm a junior now... I wish I could have graduated with all my friends but sadly we were separated by two years. Now just thinking about our lonely workshop AND that I'll need to snag 3 more people to prevent it from being liquidated makes me depressed. *Sigh* I guess I could just snag a couple freshmen from... the... hey... I think I may be on to something! They bring in the freshman the same day the Seniors graduate don't they... Lets see I got maybe 2... 3 hours before the Principle starts his long-as speech so all I gotta do is just wait in the auditorium for the freshmen to file in. I just some there'll be some interesting people this year. As I made my way towards the Auditorium I passed a couple freshmen who had shown up early. Looks like I was right to get my hopes up heehee, I can't wait. Once I finally got there I slipped behind one of the pillars that bordered the western wall of the auditorium. Luckily the Principle and his Vice weren't there yet so I could walk right in without so much as a second glance (^^). I've been a blip of the faculties radar ever since last years er... incident... |

"Nee nee~" said a cat as it circled a black haired freshman as he headed inside of the building, "Are you listening to me Edge?" it asked as he sat on his head. This made the boys eyebrow twitch. "What Midnight... what is it this time..." he asked the black cat with wings on it's back. She had been talking non stop ever since he left home. "So this is En Corvis nya~?" Edge sighed, "That again... didn't you just ask that..." "Yeah~ But you didn't answer me before now did you nya~" "Ugh..." Edge began to massage his forehead his his fingertips. Sure Midnight was a pain sometimes, but they had been together for 13 years, so he could put up with her better than he could other people. She was his Mana, and she was his weapon. Or she helped him call his weapon, a blade made out of pure energy around oneself. A Mana Blade. "So when can we rest? Nya~" Midnight asked as she dropped down in front of his face and flew in reverse. "Later I guess.. whenever we get our dorm assignments," Edge commented as he rolled his eyes. She was sleeping the entire time here, and now she wants to again??! But... that's a cat for you. Flying or not. "Keh. That's tooo long," Midnight spat. There it was... cute one moment, but when she gets upset, her personality practically flips... but that was one thing Edge grew to love about her. She curled up in a ball like always and fell asleep on his head. Wow... he must've looked cool... a flying cat was sleeping on his head. Nice. |

"So...this is the school. Could it get any bigger?" Cornelia glanced up at the monstrosity that would be her home for four long years. Many people, just like her, were entering the building bracing themselves for their new life within these walls. She was going to miss her family terribly, but this was what both she and her mother wanted. Alchemy...transmutations, she could hardly wait until she was in that laboratory beginning her experiments. It was like Full Metal Alchemist...except with beakers and test tubes. With a hitched breath she made her way inside, instantly assaulted by the smells and sounds that made up every school she had ever been to. There was something about every school that made them smell the same...the paint or something. She walked through the lobby into the auditorium where all the students seemed to be gathering. Of course it was with good measure since above the door there was a banner that said, 'Freshmen Orientation.' Cornelia nearly smacked herself in the face. Rows upon rows of seats were filled; she didn't know that so many people were interested in alchemy. Maybe they watched the anime too. She shrugged. Who knows? She continued her search for an available seat, passing by a boy with a flying cat which nearly made her eyes bug out in wonder and a rather suspicious boy hiding behind a pillar. He was a year or two older than her, she assumed, and he looked to be curious about the newcomers. Lugging her luggage around, she moved to the seat closest to him. She didn't think her instincts were wrong, but in the eventual case that it was she would be the first person to know if things went wrong and be able to make her daring escape. |

Crap! I've been spotted... Eh... whatever its just a bespectacled bystander. So long as I keep out of the teachers radar I'll be fine... I hope. Speak of the devil. The principle is making his way to the podium in the center of the large stage as we speak. And then the speech, it went on and on with nearly no end in sight. I could practically feel the ife getting sucked out of me. Damnit, Bernard! Give me my precious youth back! 1 Hour later... If you had to stand in an auditorium with your back against the jagged surface of a stone pillar, on a scale of one to homicidal, how pissed would you be? ... Yup, me too. Luckily as this was merely a fleeting urge to kill. I wouldn't actually go through with it... probably. Anyway it finally looks like he's shutting up. "All students will must report to there dorm where they will be assigned there room number." said the principles Vice in her thick German accent, and the freshmen jumped at the chance bolting from the auditorium one after another. But the bespectacled girl, the one who notice me stayed in her seat... hmm... well best not to look a gift horse in the mouth I always say. I slipped out from behind the pillar and walked over the glasses wearing student and, now that I get a good look at her... s-she's kinda cute. Plus its my first chance too be a senpai! I'm kinda getting excited. "Yo" I said with a cheerful smile, "Come with me for second". I immediately grabbed her hand, yanked her out of her seat, and made my way to my workshop which was located south of the eastern wing of the school. |

"H-Hey! Where do you think you're taking me?" She hadn't even done anything other than sit by him, and here she was being dragged across the school like the luggage she carried. If she knew this would happen, she wouldn't have sat by him at all. But of course, she couldn't just leave a suspicious person by and walk away. Oh no, she had to sit by him! Stupid, stupid, stupid! Being forcibly yanked from her seat without warning, Cornelia had to jog to keep up with his fast pace. She tried as she might to release herself but his grip was too strong, his fingers were clamped down on her wrist like a bear trap. "Oi, you could at least answer me if you intend to drag me ACROSS THE SCHOOL!" she barked, causing other students she passed to glance at her oddly. Sure she was self-conscious of the stares she was receiving, but she wasn't just going to let some stranger grab her and bring her wherever he pleased. She wasn't some dog, that's for sure. |

Meanwhile... "Ah... that was so fucking boring...." sighed Edge as he leaned back in his chair as the others sifted out. Midnight was sleeping in his lap, and now his foot was asleep. He glanced around only to see a few students straggling along, while two ran off. One seemed to be pulling the other somewhere. Oh well... not important. "Can we go to the dorms yet?" asked Midnight, who had just now woken up and let out a long yawn. "Give me a minute... my foot is still asleep," he said as he forced himself to get up and shook his foot to try and get life back into it. His left hand was feeling rather tingly as well, so he shook that as well. It was the hand that was tattooed with an alchemy symbol. The ink was black with a blue border on it. Plop. Edge let out a heavy sigh as Midnight settled herself on his head again, "You have wing.. so use them..." he growled. "Don't wanna~" was all she replied with a snicker and a Cheshire Cat smile. |

Gauche always listened to the beginning-of-the-year speech. He liked to think if he listened to it enough times, he would find some hidden meaning, find something that could keep him entertained figuring out. As it had been for the previous two years, the speech was boring and there was no obvious indication of treachery. Snapping the tiny, leather-bound journal in his hands shut, he shoved it and his pen into an inside pocket and looked up at the clock; it was time to hit his workshop's North-East room. He started walking, with the bedraggled and woebegone Niche slinking along by his ankles. "Gauche," she whined, her voice like nails on a chalkboard, and he sent a look down at her from the corner of his eyes. Her voice didn't bother him anymore, as he'd been listening to it for most of the past four or five years--he couldn't even remember any longer. "Gauche, there's a cat here this year. A cat. Can I go bark at it. Please? Please, Gauche? Please?" Becoming annoyed with the pleading, Gauche nodded and continued along his path as if nothing had happened, forcing bundles of scared first-years to pass as he walked through them. From behind him, he could hear Niche's excited bark as she tried to scare Midnight off of Edge's head. |

"Keh! What the hell is that thing," hissed Midnight as she glared at the barking dog. "A dog... I think?" Edge replied as he could feel a sweat drop roll down the back of his head. "Listen here mutt," snapped Midnight as she flew down to meet Niche eye to eye, "I don't know whose mana you are, but shove off. I'm tired, and you won't like me when I'm tired." What the hell are you talking about Midnight... you are always tired.. Edge thought as he rubbed his forehead out of annoyance from the way she was acting. The barking was getting on his nerves a little as well. So sue me, she hissed back telepathically. Getting fed up with the barking she landed on Edge's head once again, Just go to the dorms... she told him telepathically again. But sure enough, the dog followed them and kept barking. |

When Gauche figured out that Niche wasn't following behind him, he turned and gazed around the otherwise empty grounds. Swearing under his breath, Gauche turned on his heels and went to find her, calling her name in his head all the while. Back on Edge's heels, Niche slowed and then stopped, trying to tell Gauche where she is and finding she was hopelessly lost. Gauche, she whined again. Gauche, where are you? Gauche flinched at her tone. I'm coming, he said, speeding his pace so he wouldn't have to listen to her whine much longer. He reached the small group within minutes, just outside of the dorm rooms. "Niche," he said sternly. "You didn't have to follow them all the way here." "We were headed this way anyways," she said, her head sinking low with her large brown eyes looking up at him guiltily. |

"So I take it you are the one that has a contract with her?" asked Edge as he held back a cussing cat whose eyes were filled with blood lust for the whining dog, "I mean seriously... it's not very smart to leave them behind you know," he scowled. He was told this same exact thing when he was 7 after him and Midnight had got separated in the forest behind this families estate, "An amateur move if I may be so bold to say," he said anyways. Edge has 13 years of expertise under his belt, he wondered how much the guy that stood before him had. |

"To my workshop of course," I replied without slowing my pace or even turning to face her. I winder if I should have grabbed that cat guy as well... eh whatever I'll just grab 'em if I see him in the dorms. We neared the doorway to my workshop, the second door on the right of a long hall of similar doors. This wing of the school is primarily composed of... well workshops, only thing separating mine from the others are the black blast residue permanently stained onto the surrounding walls. But other than that its dimensions are the same of the others, a large room with a cauldron, beakers et... cetera. Now students ARE allowed to furnish there workshops with anything they make or buy but... well Senpai and the others took that a little far. We built a little rest area complete with a couch, a rug, a bookcase full of weird-ass books in languages I haven't even heard of before omit a couple practical ones, and a little coffee table as well as a crapload of little knicks and knacks scattered about everywhere. I turned to face my... um... guest and well I guess just told her straight out. "Your gonna join my workshop!" I announced with a smile. |

"You're gonna join my workshop!...workshop...workshop..." That single sentence echoed loudly through Cornelia's mind, eventually pounding against her skull like a jackhammer. This guy drags her halfway across the school, not even considerate of the fact that she was trailing behind rather clumsily, and decides for her which workshop she was going to join? He had some nerve! She wasn't some puppet to be controlled! With unrestrained annoyance, Cornelia let go of her luggage and promptly drove her right fist into the young man's skull. She didn't hit him with enough force to knock him unconscious but enough so that he'd get the point across. No one just tells her what she wants to do, especially some guy she'd just met. "Why would I join your workshop anyway? Give me one good reason why I shouldn't just haul myself out of here" she stated all the while glancing curiously around the room. The place was all right aside from the charred entrance that led inside. Looking back at the guy, he looked like someone who would easily destroy a room by mixing wrong chemicals together. In short, he looked like a disaster waiting to happen. |

Ow... ow ow ow ow. Damn... this girls got one hell of a right hook I think I was seeing seeing stars for a second there. I may not look it but I can take a punch so it didn't take long to shake it off. "Hehehe, I like that spirit. Your definitely joining now!" I said as I crossed my arms and let our a big grin "You can hit me all you want but all that's gonna do is tire you out." Are you just gonna freaking take that?! Holy crap this bitch is asking for it. And how long do you plan on keeping up this gay narrative for anyway 'Soulmate'. Your damn lucky I don't have enough control over this flesh bag to make it talk yet! A~nd this would be Einzelkampf my Mana. Well not so much a Mana as an unwanted guest festering in the back of my mind as a form of schizophrenia. There's no way in hell I'm going to be spending the next 2 years in a workshop with this chick. She make me wanna... punch kittens! |

Just looking at this guy made her eye spasm. He was just so...outgoing and friendly. Was anyone in reality like this? Nobody she's ever met, that's for sure. And with that fact, she concluded that this guy must have some sort of...split personality or something. Like her mother said, 'He'll seem nice and friendly and then one second later, BAM, he'll look and act like a different person.' But of course, what choice did she have in the matter? Not many that's for sure. One would be to hit him unconscious and escape. Although that would probably lead her to getting expelled or, at the least, him waking up and stalking her in order to bring her back. The other? Well, it was the easiest yet hardest choice: to join his stupid workshop. Seriously, did she have some sort of innate ability to attract strange guys? She sighed, she must have. Why else would this guy come out of nowhere and choose her to kidnap? There were so many other girls, so MANY, and here she was...sitting innocently and WHAM she was taken. That's luck for you...corrupted, vile, disgusting luck. Cornelia crossed her arms and looked away with a scoff. "Fine, I'll join your," Stupid! , "workshop. Not like I have any other choice anyway." |

"It is bold," Gauche said, raising his eyebrows at the other boy, sizing him up, wondering how good of an alchemist he was, and at the same time trying to figure out if his Mana was any threat to Niche. "Almost too bold for a freshman. In fact, so bold I'd suggest you shut your trap. Niche can take care of herself. Unlike... that." He inclined his head in Midnight's general direction. "Please don't start any fights," Niche moaned. "Not on the first day back. I hate detention." |

"Hah... just because I'm a freshman doesn't mean anything. I've been training in Alchemy for going on a little over 13 years. And Midnight is old enough to behave herself," Edge retorted. Feeling that the conversation was over, Edge brushed past his senior and headed for the lodging he was assigned, Midnight sticking her tongue out at the boy and his mutt before flying to the side of Edge as he walked away.. |

Refraining from sticking up his finger at the freshman, Gauche surveyed the boy once again. Now, Gauche liked to keep things to himself. That didn't stop him from watching Edge's butt as he walked away. Strictly speaking, he wasn't gay--or, the type of gay people made fun of other people for being--but he did find girls to be obnoxious, and he did find that his quiet--or not quiet, strictly speaking, in the sense of the word--personality made it easy for him to... observe. "Gauche," Niche warned, seeing the look. [ooc] Did I use 'strictly speaking' in an annoying way? I did the repetition on purpose, but I'm not sure it worked. |

"Excellent! Not that I had any doubts that you wouldn't. Anyway here's the paperwork you need to fill out to make it official I need to go find two more members by the end of next week." I said as I shoved couple papers into her hands and left with a wave. The live ones would all be gone if I wait too long. Yo, what the hell are you thinking? You know I can't stand humans like her! Okay so I hate all you humans but this ones just friggin' annoying! Not only that her shouting woke me up right in the middle of the best sleep ever so I'm not the happiest reincarnated form of the embodiment of war. Maybe beating the ever loving piss out of some freshmen will cheer me up. "I don't think so, I don't see much of a difference from your usual mood anyway" The hell do you mean "mood". If I say somethings annoying, its annoying. If I say I'm gonna kill you, then I'm gonna kill you! 's got nothin' to do with "mood". As I carried on my charming conversation with Ein I wandered around the campus for a while in search on fresh meat. I seemed to be getting a lot of funny looks lately... I guess the fact that I've been muttering to myself for a while makes me look like a psycho... anyway If you were wondering about the fruits of my labor I can tell you that I found zip, zilch, nada, nothing-at-all. So I decided to head back to the workshop and check on... huh... y'know I don't think I even asked her name. Hehe, smooth jackass |

Cornelia took a seat on one of the couches and slowly sifted through the pile of papers she received, grimly. Was she joining a workshop, or filing for employment? Name, Date of Birth...Social Security Number?! She even needed freaking references! What would she need references for?! She never had a job in her life! The only references were her relatives! "This...is so stupid." Cornelia murmured, reluctantly filling out the spaces with her name and date of birth, but omitting her social security number for known reasons. She wasn't about to give Schizo-Guy more information than he needed. Mana? I think I'll just leave that one blank... Everything else seemed pretty standard: Year, Major, etc. At least there was some semblance of sanity to these papers. Scribbling down the rest of her information, she hardly noticed when Schizo-Guy reentered the room. When she did; however, she made sure to withhold her surprise. Writing down her signature in neat script, she proffered the papers. "Done. Now what do you do in here?" Aside from the obvious. |

"Another school year. Out with the old guard, and in with the new." Astrum said this to himself while in his workshop, doing what one would presume to be staring at a vial through his mask. Today, his attire consisted of a suit with one inch black and white vertical stripes that construed his height and black shoes that had apparently a two inch lift, which simply made them look odd. His mask today appeared to be a white cloth bag over his entire head, with one large eye drawn over face. This was one of the many mysteries surrounding him: no matter what kind of mask he wore, it never seemed to hinder him in the least. "To my workshop of course." These words could be heard coming from the hallway. "Sounds like, what was his name again? The one who nearly blew up his entire workshop?" "Yuuki Yasu." The name rings out as a large black raven, Longinus, flies in from an open window. "His seniors graduated, and he is in need of members to keep his workshop open, so he went to the opening ceremony and dragged a freshman to his workshop. I assume he's going to make her join." "I see. Do you think we need to warn her?" He was remembering the "incident" that happened just last year. "I doubt she has much to worry about. He may not be a perfect alchemist, but he is not so foolish as to endanger others. At least, I hope he isn't." "I guess it doesn't matter in any event. So long as I can continue and further my studies, the goings on of others is hardly my concern." Staring even more intently at the vial, which held only a minuscule amount of some strange compound, he slowly placed his hand on the stopper. "Careful..." "Am I not always? Anyways, let us see what happens next..." Quickly, he pulled the stopper out and moved his hand as fast as he could away from the vial. And no sooner than he did, than flames and sparks began shooting from the vial. It took only seconds for it to become hot enough that he could feel the intense heat even through his heavily heat resistant gloves. Dropping the vial onto a large, thick block of solid iron, the heat from the now broken vial began instantly melting the iron. After a minute, the fire and sparks finally stopped, and where there had been a solid square block, there was now a crude looking cauldron. "The heat and duration far exceeded my expectations." "Nonetheless, this compound has its uses. If it can be managed properly, it can be used to greatly aid metallurgy and excavation of tunnels." "Yes, you have a point. But enough experimentation for now. I had planned to attend the ceremony and see what type of people have come here, but I got too wrapped up in my research to go." "Yes, let us see first hand who has come to the Academy." |

"Gracias," I said as I took the papers. Hm... Ah... so her names Cornelia Rose, well at least I won't have to ask her. "Well aside from doing our school work me and my sen- er... old classmates usually just hung out and did mostly random experiments..." I explained to her while I sifted through the forms. Tch... crap, crap, and more crap. No good blackmail material at all... mow that's a let down. "Now then... Ah! That reminds me you haven't seen the Athenor yet have you?" I asked once I finished looking through the papers. I set them down on the table next too me and headed towards the door. "This way" I said, halfway out the door. I walked a couple doors down and stopped in front of a black, steel door with an intense heat coming from the other side of it. Luckily the door was made out of special steel which was cool to the touch. I grasped the handle and yanked it open and we were immediately blasted with a wave of heat. Its something you don't really get used too until your second or third year... anyway, what you never really get used to is setting your eyes on the huge freaking piece of machinery that lies on the other side. " "The Athanor is used to create the more advanced products of alchemy from instruments to weaponry. It recovers fuel on its own, like an isolated ecosystem inside of it. Which means there's a lot of fuel in there, enough to blow about a third of this planet straight to hell actually." Hehehehe... thats good to know... |

So basically, if Schizo-Guy got his hands on it he could destroy the planet. Wonderful. Forget living until the ripe old age of 100; she'd be lucky if she lived 'til tomorrow. Why did she happen across this guy? Cornelia shoved a lock of azure hair away from her face and wiped her glasses on her shirt before replacing them. "So, I could use this...thing...to make a sword or even a staff? What about armor? Could I make armor from the Athanor?" Shoving the thought of dying in the back of her mind, she turned to good thoughts...like weapons and armor. It was like a real-life role-playing game or medieval times. She couldn't help herself from questioning the abilities of the machine. If it could make weapons or possibly armor, what else could it create? "Is there anything else this thing can make aside from weapons?" |

"It make almost anything!" I said dramatically as I spread out my arms "... as long as you have the right materials. The base ingredients are gathered from nature, then synthesized in the workshop into materials. All substances are connected by a sort of... Alchemic chain, the Athenor simply takes certain links of that chain and assembles them differently." When it comes to alchemy I... can get a little carried away. A little? Its practically a friggin' obsession. "But if your talking about specifics you can make furniture, machines, instruments... et cetera. Ah did you know? The quality of a product also depends on the creators Alchemic abilities. For example a skilled musician would also be a skilled musician." |

"So, who should we start with Longinus? You flew by the opening ceremony, see anyone of interest?" As he asks the raven, Atrum walks over to shelf with numerous vials and pots with no clear indication of what was in them aside from seemingly meaningless lines and drawings. "There were a few who had Mana, but having a Mana does not make one a point of interest by itself. I would suggest just meeting each one by one and gauge them accordingly. And on that note, why not start with the one Yuuki dragged by here? She should be the closest one as most of the others are probably in the dorms getting their rooms assigned." "True. I have met people who had Mana, and not all of them were interesting or seemingly special in anyway." He continues the subject with Longinus as he picks out a small pot with an odorless, light pink mixture in it, whose contents are only marked by a straight vertical line on the label. "What information do you know of this girl?" "Her name is Cornelia Rose. From what I gathered, she has no standing contract with any Mana, nor is she from a family of alchemists. Aside from that, there is no information of any real note. At least, as far as I know." "I see. She doesn't sound very interesting, not in the least." As they continue their discussion, Atrum begins to pour a small amount of the powder onto his gloved hands. He then starts rubbing the powder all over his gloves as if he were washing them in it. "But, I guess it couldn't hurt to meet her anyways. At any rate I wanna check on Yuuki, or to be more precise, that Mana of his, Einzelkampf." Done rubbing his hands, the powder completely blends in with the black and white gloves which matches perfectly with the stripes on the sleeves, as if they were sewn together. Longinus caws strongly, which sounds more like a gunshot than a raven's caw. Longinus didn't simply dislike Ein, he was outright hostile with him. "That Einzelkampf is dangerous, we should deal with him." The power behind his voice made it sound more like a command than a suggestion. "You said it yourself before, so long as he is just a 'thought' in Yuuki's head, shooting him would be utterly useless. Besides, he seems to have Ein relatively under control, and so long as he does this and does not abuse that power, we'll simply keep an eye on him for the time being." Making sure the bottle was put properly back on the shelf, he turned directly and faced the black raven, "This talk is meaningless and we've had it enough times already. So long as the status quo is kept, this is the stance we'll keep. If things should change...we will play it your way, without hesitation." Seeming to calm down, Longinus replies in his previous, calm tone. "Very well. So long as you understand." Crooking his head, he stares intently at Atrum's gloves, "You're going to do it again this year, too?" Longinus asks with a bit of questioning unease. "Think of it like a test, if they can't see through such simple tricks, they have no right to be alchemists." He replies to the raven with obvious excitement in his voice. "Someone's eventually going to figure it out that it was you." "That's perfectly fine, no, that's actually preferred. It would mean that at least one person has a brain. But this year, I decided on a different one. Instead of a medium affect after five hours, I went with one with a powerful affect after only one hour. This way, if people can't pick up that something is wrong, then they have it coming. Besides, the effect will take place so fast they can't help but put it back on me. Its on easy mode this year." The incident in question was last year, when Atrum first arrived as a freshman, he had laced his gloves with a moderate aphrodisiac much like the one he had now. Colorless, odorless, and completely unnoticeable to the touch, he went around the whole school shaking everyone's hand. He managed to get so many people to shake mostly because he was from the known Ruina family. It was five hours before the effect took place, but by that time, roughly 4/5 of the school had shaken his hand. The faculty who hadn't yet shaken his had immediately quarantined the affected students and faculty for their, and everyone else's, good. Even after exhaustive investigation, no one ever concluded the cause. "And if you're worried about an 'incident', this one works like a contraceptive, so there's no worries on that end. And if some people DO do 'it', they only have themselves to blame for not being of stronger will and fortitude." "So long as you're taking at least some preventive measures, I suppose it won't be too bad. And as you said, it'll work fast enough so that you'll be caught before it can spread very far." "Glad you see it my way. Now, let's go meet the new freshmen, shall we? Knowing Yuuki, they're either in his workshop, or in the Athanor. I wonder if he'll fall for it, too?" Longinus at this point couldn't help but hide his face behind a wing while he perched on Atrum's shoulder as they made their way out of the workshop. |

Throughout the hustle and bustle of the students, none seemed more relaxed than the circus youth strolling down the halls while humming a simple tune. Allegria was in exceptionally high spirits today, her steps so light, it seemed like she would suddenly take off in a sprint or even float away. In her hands, she juggled five fairly large packets of colored powders in a large cycle reaching towards the ceiling at a rate to match her leisurely pace. "I take it you chose not to attend the opening ceremony?" The voice caught her by surprise a bit, and her hands hastened the juggling pace to keep the packets from falling. Through her peripheral vision, Allegria could not see where the familiar voice was coming from, but the sudden weight on her left shoulder was enough to tell her where the invisible Mana had decided to stand. "I've already attended that uneventful ceremony once before; no need to attend again when I am not part of the intended audience~" She maintained a cheerful smile, her hands quickly speeding up the rate the colored packets soared above her. "Besides, what's it to you, Fino?" "Kekeke, running off on your own. What a naughty girl~" Serafino spoke in such a low voice that others in the hallway would have thought Allegria was talking to herself unless they stood within two feet from her. "What would your parents say if they knew~?" "I could almost say the same for you, save for one bit. Weren't you just 'running off on your own' as well~?" A small whistle ended her question and brought her humming to an end. "Exploring the school grounds?" "Actually, I heard something interesting~" An unseen hand pushed away strands of her dyed hair as Serafino leaned closer (though there really was no need to do so) and whispered something in her ear. Even without hearing what he had to say, the amused tone in the Mana's voice was enough to alert Allegria that something was amiss. Nonetheless, she decided to listen to what he had to say. "Eh~ ... wait- what!?" In an instant, all five packets ceased their flight through the air and plopped on her head before slipping off to the ground. Her outburst and an unnaturally loud cackle echoed in the hallway, causing several heads to turn. |

"Right." she said simply. "Well, considering I've filled out all your 'necessary' papers I'm gonna go ahead and get my dorm number. The line's probably shorter since I wasted time staying here instead of heading there right after orientation." Cornelia gathered up her luggage and gave Schizo-Guy a two-fingered salute partnered with a cocky grin. "Well, I'll be seeing ya Schi...I mean, uh..." she cocked her head to the side, lingering at the doorway. "what the heck is your name, anyway?" She was so busy being dragged across the school and filling out paperwork that she neglected to even get the guy's name! Not that she cared, mind you, but if she and he was supposed to join the same workshop, calling him Schizo-Guy twenty-four seven wouldn't exactly help. Especially when her first impressions rolled around him getting pissed off and suddenly going Insane-Psycho-Killer mode. That...wouldn't be a pretty sight. |
"Someone once told me that, 'Friendships come with meetings, partings and reunions.' But how could you truly part with someone if they're always there...in your heart?" |

Fifteen. Walking out into the corridor and already fifteen people from freshmen to seniors, males to females, and students to teachers, had already shaken his hand. When he felt far enough away from anyone, he spoke to Longinus. "There's more people here than I thought there's be. I guess that freshman won't be the first one, huh?" "It's most likely because some of the workshops are in the same situation as Yuuki. Other students probably went out and looked for the best possible candidates from the freshmen to recruit them in before anyone else got here, while some freshmen are here because they already got their room assignment and decided to see the workshops. For all these people, there is perhaps not one gram of luck." "If they have no luck, then they just need to work harder to compensate. Me, I am lucky, and I am skilled so I don't have to worry as much as these people. Hell, they probably aren't even aware they need be worried. Children who don't realize just how dangerous the world of alchemy really is and to what lengths some of its practitioners will go for fame, fortune, or whatever grabs their fancy, need not participate in it. Alchemy is by no means a child's game. That is what this 'test' symbolizes. They assume that because they are behind the 'safety' of an academy, that the title of student protects them from harm. No life, no matter how old, young, pretty, ugly, smart, dumb, rich, poor, male, female, strong, weak, no matter who they are, there are absolutely no guarantees. Even I know to worry and am on constant guard against deception and attack. Can I detect and prevent all of it? No, that's impossible, even for me. What I can do is be ready for when those times come so that I might best retaliate with proper measure. It irritates me when I see them walking carefree as if the world exists to protect them." Atrum continues on this rant for some time, only stopping when someone walks close enough to hear him. "But I digress considerably. We will continue the 'test'. If they fail, they have no one but themselves to blame and I wish for them the greatest misfortune." "Yes, it seems many of you human young folk, and even some of the older ones, forget and underestimate the dangers of alchemy. This test for example could just as easily use lethal poisons as opposed to the aphrodisiac. But do you think they might learn from their mistakes this time? Last time they didn't learn a thing." "If they don't, then there is no hope for them at all." Finally reaching the steel door that leads to the Athanor, they find the door ajar. "Well then, let's go pay our peers a warm greeting and a friendly handshake." |

"Hm? Oh yeah I haven't introduced myself have I? Names Yuuki, Yuuki Yasu. Its nice too meet you Cornelia," I said with a sort of... sinister smile on. The kind of smile that hid ulterior motives, I didn't really mean to smile like that but well Ein does have a little control over my actions so... I declare myself not responsible for anything I say. Heh, you were FUBAR even before we became "Soulmates" so blame this shit on me. Anyway... I decided to follow Ms. Cornelia around for a while. "Well then why don't I show you to the girls dorm then? Actually the entrance to the boys and girls dorms are right across from each other." |
