THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This was a decent episode, the only thing I didnt like was the ending about the Red-Light District. The nun can shut up with that bull-crap, about that being her rightousness. She wants to take in all womens' suffering by making her fellow nuns and countless other wemon prostitues? Dont make me laugh in the end she is just making more unnessary suffering. Plus I have always found the Red-Light district digusting in all the anime Ive seen.To conclude, the head nun can go die in a ditch, that is all.

That ending did come as a bit of a surprise. I suppose the nun's point is there will be red light district in Sado no matter what as a result of the region's upcoming prosperity. The nuns choose to take on to themselves the role of prostitutes, in order to avoid the other women of the territory the pain and suffering of that profession. At least that's how I understood it. Weird logic i know.

The intrigues of feudal Japan are actually well depicted in this small arc. It's just hard to concentrate on them behind all that neck, giant heads and talk of righteousness. Best to take this series tongue in cheek I suppose.

Great episode. Very dramatic and intense.

I also found that disgusting. Moreover I was surprised to see those nuns killing people (the enemy). Apparently she was a depraved nun who broke the five presets no matter what reason she had.

I second it.

Ahahaha your funny. Btw I'm not I'm not sensitive, I just wanted to state my opinion on that. For the most part I was just pointing of the obvious contradiction in the Nun's words. So whatever.

I agree with Marzan in regards to the red light district thing.

That's sort of how I saw it too, although I'd also argue that by placing herself in charge of it she can oversee that the prostitutes aren't harmed/bullied etc. We've just seen how badass these nuns are - they aren't going to let a bunch of men walk over them. Besides, you really have to understand that the time when this was set was a lot more sexist than the world today. Pretty much every samurai anime has something to do with prostitutes, since feudal era Japan had so many brothels. The head nun wanted to help the prostitutes in the only way she could - by regulating the system, rather than abolishing it.

I know man, I found that Red-Light District disturbing too. But that's how the world went, and still goes on that way (Fortunately now less than before). Get over it.

Anyway, pretty good episode, Kanetsugu and Keiji are just way too badass.
That dragon shit was also well made. Oh, I'm starting to like the Uesugi's Ninja.

OST 5/5.

That's for me the only negative note about flashbacks. But I still enjoy this kind of setting, it's cool seeing Kanetsugu and Keiji sitting like bros every episode telling each other their past stories.

Seems like everyone's on the same page about the head nun mentioning her plan to create a Red-Light District as her form of righteousness... I was already surprised enough to see them killing others but wow. She's more fucked up than I thought. Interesting turn of events though, I enjoyed the episode.

If the point was to show why things didn't change for good for so long in Japanese history, or perhaps how little a beautiful righteousness could bloom in that age and time, the ending is understandable.

I couldn't find the chapter from Lone Wolf and Cub, when Ogami met a woman, whose job was to enforce the rules of the red-light districts and as if wasn't enough that women were revealed as the most expendable trash/slaves already in the other stories, this one hit me hard with the historic reference for the punishment and tortures prostitutes used to receive for breaking the rules in the district. From other women. LOL. This Buddha chick ... oh, come on, righteousness my arse.

Won't repeat what Marzan and straggy already said, but correct me if I am wrong:
Our heroes got their asses all the way to Sado to pull the tail of the tiger (Hideyoshi and the jiji, forgot his name) and save the Uesugi clan from losing the province (basically, a territory and their respectful name).
Instead of beating the crap out of the Big Head and his dumb rival/alley for what they did to the farmers, and show some balls in implementing justice (if not more demanding concepts as righteousness), they resorted to some outcast chicks' naginatas to win the battle.

... Too little rape in this episode, I think :0

Exactly! She is still a woman in a time women didn't have positions of authority and so there is no way she can just stop it. It will be a pointless fight that will just get her killed with no results. At least this way she controls it and lessens the suffering.
I find the op and some others reaction cringe worthy really cause is just so ignorant and simple minded. OMG! prostitution is bad, omg! why didn't they kill the bad guys? Grow up damn it!
