That was surprisingly funny for this show, both the foreigner and celebrity scene killed.

Again Iguchi is voicing multiple roles (3 this time - grandma, foreigner and celebrity) lol

And I kind of doubt that Osaka people really so extrovert to approach people on their own, but anyway it's fun.

And the ED about super-convenient language Osaka-ben is even funnier IMO
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

This week was noticeably better than the last few weeks, especially the scene with the foreigners.

Asumi Kana was fantastic as always. I can't wait for Nyaruko season 2.

I thought the foreigner was Jun Fukuyama, but then I think it must be Iguchi.

Basically in this anime Iguchi always voices every character outside of the main and supporting cast :-) IIRC in one episode she even voiced 8 characters !!

I've been learning the wrong version of Japanese.

Granted I was in Osaka only one day and night, but nobody ever walked up to me and asked me if I liked mayonnaise. I'm disappointed.

I love this show.

But I don't like the fact that the voice actress for Namika is originally from Fukuoka.
Fukuoka is at the extreme south-west tip of Japan on the island of Kyushu. Kyushu
has their own unique language and accent. It is very distinct, in fact.

There is no connection with the language and accent of Osaka.

The whole premise of this show is to tell us fun things about Osaka. I love that.
But at the same time they leave themselves open to being criticized for ridiculing
people in the Kansai region.

By analogy, Hollywood is now very careful to avoid charges of racism. In the past
they were very careless about which actor was playing which role. All of that is
now seen as offensive in the extreme.

My source of this information was from the Japanese Wikipedia page for the show.

I have no criticism of the voice actress herself. I disagree with the casting decision.

I am really enjoying this show, and this has been one of my favorite episodes.

I have a friend from Osaka, but luckily she isn't quite like Namika and speaks a bit less Osaka-ben to me.

Then even better to praise Asumin for studying and practicing Osaka dialect before voicing this character. From an interview I read that she was picked for being the best to convey the personality of the imouto and she went through dialect lesson before starting the dubbing. Apparently she came out really well in Osaka dialect according to staff and fans.

She certainly has no shame funny how she approached that foreigner who could even follow to conversation from the looks of it.
I feel sorry for that girls tho she didn't know what happened there.

I don't quite understand this episode. Why is not changing the way they speak when talking to people outside of where they live a big deal? Is this something that people from other regions of Japan do? I'm confused.
