That scene at the beginning when Anne looked out the window and there was a montage of scenery and animals was just amazing. Still really liking this series.

In the last episode I was amused at some of Anne's dialogues and expressions, but at the same time her words made me feel more aware of how much she was hurting.
Some very exceptional direction from Takahata in this episode, amazing use of imagery, dialogues, silence, and beautiful music. I felt for the first time that despite being annoying, in a sense, Anne is so adorable.

To my own surprise, in the next episode we see that this is how Anne is, she appears to be annoying and too talkative, but her words have a spell binding effect, as Ms. Cuthbert starts to notice when she goes down in the cellar. What really surprised me was how well this aspect and Anne's character is executed, Takahata makes it seem so easy and natural.

"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

Akage no Anne has a lot of these little directorial touches that give a good sense of realism and detail to the daily doings of the characters. Rarely static, they are very frequently shown doing housework (doing dishes, wiping the floor, preparing/serving food, cleaning the table) and other minor activities (taking off boots, eating a piece of bread, grabbing an object) on screen, some which aren't explicit in the book but rather cleverly added by the staff. It really is impressive how natural it feels to watch the cast interacting with their surroundings and with each other.

The scenery in the anime is incredible. It looks better than a lot of current anime.

Although I do see the usefulness of silence in the show, I can't deny it is pretty boring at times. I guess I'm not used to it.

I wish that Matthew and Anne had one more moment before she left although I guess it was more realistic for him to say nothing especially when Marilla was around. This anime is the perfect one to watch before sleeping, ngl even though It’s chill I hope it gets more exciting once Anne is accepted into the household.

A very touching episode! When Anne said goodbye to the tree and the flower pot, I thought she wouldn't say goodbye to Mathew. I think it had a dramatic effect when she said his name last. Beautiful episode!

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!
