I should check out 86, the best thing I've watched this past year was the Tatami Galaxy sequel and G Witch. I'm excited for the next season and I actually got into gunpla in the past year so it's cool to have some kits from the current show that I can build. I hope the second season doesn't take a shit which I can see happening since it's the Code Geass writer, but I hope it stays great.
and I think I agree on the same preferences you have but 0079 this time just really clicked for me on this rewatch including the action direction and art style. VOTOMS is top tier though. I think out of VOTOMS I still need to watch one of the red shoulder related OVAs and the non-Chirico stuff like Mellowlink. I really wanna check out Dougram too.
HxH is worth catching up on I think it's been funny because Togashi is like pushing the limits of how many characters can be introduced in one arc, I thin he's legit up to like 30+ new characters you are expected to remember and keep track of but somehow I'm able to enjoy and follow it, I even like one of the new characters, Hinrigh, a lot.
Also lol sorry for replying almost a month later... been a rough time lately with relationship stuff so I've been trying hard to keep my head above water lately :Y
Being a manga reader before the adaptation was announced, the farmland arc (or the series in general) provides original content that compliments the core material with a strong directorial voice and impressive execution. It rides a line which avoids getting too heady for its own good, but at the same time, it realizes its potential to be intellectually stimulating. They seem to put care before peeling back the layers to reveal something truly meaningful.
As for next season, speaking of Kimetsu no Yaiba, they just announced the seiyuu's for the upper rank demons in the swordsmith village arc. I'm only looking forward to the fights tbh lol
Oshi no Ko has potential to go beyond it's source material (in a good away) the first episode is going to be 90 minutes long and the production is remarkable. Kind of like Spy x Family.
I'm also alive! I used anilist a bit but I keep coming back to MAL and then updating Anilist in bulk at later dates. I've been keeping up on stuff somewhat basically just watching stuff that super catches my interest as it airs(G witch, Stone Ocean) but even then I've put off some big ones like Mob Psycho s3, Vinland Saga, and Chainsawman. I had a do-nothing security job for a bit that gave me tons of free (paid) time to sit with my laptop so I watched all of Victory Gundam, finished VOTOMS, Giant Gorg, and all of G Gundam in a few month period lol, now I'm doing regular work again and have slowed down a lot, I want to get through Gundam Wing and X and then watch Turn A finally but Wing is a harder watch than I thought it would be, I don't have the Toonami nostalgia brain for it. Other than that I'm addicted to FFXIV as I have been for a while but also watching 0079 with a roommate who has never seen it or much mecha and he's loving it and I'm loving finally rewatching it after like a decade or more and actually parsing everything happening in it.
VOTOMS was amazing, I love Chirico and all the mech designs so much. The way the story changed up every arc without feeling like it deviates from the core themes/style of the show was really cool. I need to watch Mellowlink and some of the other spin-off stuff when I get a chance. What's funny is we were accidentally turning our roommate into a weird /m/ strawman who had only seen Turn A and VOTOMs so my other roomie and i decided to get back to the roots with 0079.
Oh and I finally caught up on HxH again after not reading it much since like 2015, Togashi is fucking cooking... hopefully he starts doing it again soon what with the announcement of them changing up his release schedule.
How have you been? I've been well, tbh I've been through a lot but I mean I'm still here tbh. But I'm glad you are around still!
Anyway, so, about me: I got a new job! It's actually still in the same place as where I was working beforehand, but it's in a different department. My previous job was stressful and bad, so I'm glad to be out of it. Ideally I want to leave the company altogether but there's a couple of things I need to do first like learn how to drive. I've been thinking about going back to university, too. Might finally make a start on my Master's degree or maybe have a shot at being an undergrad again. Or I might just jack everything in after I've saved up some money and go travelling for a while. Who knows! I'm not entirely sure yet, but I do know that I definitely need a change from what I have now.
I won't keep this any longer, but I will ask, do you have a discord? Or some other method that we can communicate? Lengthy MAL replies are sadly not something I can write on a regular basis these days. I do miss our gigantic walls of text but I don't have the same amount of time that I used to. I certainly don't want to lose contact with you though! It would let us do our text walls only without the lengthy delays!
Couldn't say it better myself, it really did prove to me how much heart a production can have when many passionate and talented people join a single mindset. Truly a life-changing experience.
Jeez, 2000+ screenshots? Whew. My doremi art folder just consists me saving a couple Pinterest images lol. Although I personally prefer to not pause a series to screenshot, as I try to watch it like it's on TV, where you don't have that leisure. That, and I'm too lazy to do so haha
Oh, rewatching the two Hibike's seasons? Enjoying it as much as before?
How have you been friend?
