On June 8, 2012, the official site of Arata naru Sekai (The New World) was opened to announce a new multimedia franchise headed by a collaboration between Ascii Art Media Works, Aniplex, Kadokawa Shoten, and Madhouse. The franchise consists of one whole story written by Hitoma Iruma, which will be split into the past, the present, and the future, each to be told as a novel, manga, and anime respectively. This project was started in celebration of Iruma's 5th year as an author.

Synopsis of Franchise
The human population has been severely diminished, and tomorrow may be the day of extinction. However, the unchanging seasonal cycle passes by as always, now in the chilly days between autumn and winter. To be exact, time hasn't stopped, but the world can't go to tomorrow.

All that remain are chronologists (researchers who study time) and a few children. Time travel is finally achieved, and the young boys and girls are planned to be sent to the past and to the future in order to save the human species from extinction.

School becomes dominated by lectures regarding time travel for the aptitude test. The results classify the students into those who will go to the past, those who will go to the future, and those who will remain.

the boys who jump to the past to decipher the mysteries of the world
the girls who jump to the future in hope of witnessing prosperity
and the girls who cannot do anything more than plow their farms

"Arata naru Sekai" is a story about these children who search for a bright tomorrow.

well character art looks good and standard but I hope it's nothing like the terrible movie, The Girl Who Leap Through Time or Steins Gate. So much fail in these time traveling anime.

You obviously have bad taste then, Steins;Gate was one of the actual good ones that was made lmao.
But I guess that's your opinion, and this is mine.

Only girls on manga and anime versions... probably on fanservice purpose. I effing hate this.

But will give them a try since the synopsis are really interesting.

The character designs are quite ordinary but this sounds extremely interesting and is quite a bittersweet way to go about things. Its unique that its being split into a LN, Manga and Anime but that means unless you follow all three works you'll not be getting the complete story.

Unless there is pretty pictures and junk to go with it i hate reading.

art looks cool, story is kinda unique, but the requirement of reading the manga, the novel then watching the anime to gain a complete information of the story, is well not fun...

well i would still give it a try...

My thoughts exactly.

It'll be interesting if this airs at the same time as Shinsekai Yori. They have pretty similar premises.

The correlation between the various timelines and the projects is presented in a different order on ANN:

- past = manga
- present = novel
- future = anime

Jus' for the sake of respectively'ness :p
