| On episode 10. Have avoided the thread till now. Good show, i only rate a few above it this season. I laughed when they all ended up in school together, was typical but it didn't bother me as it was handled well. Ranka is cute, Sheryl is very high maintenance. |
| As a Sheryl fan, I continue to be pleased about Sheryl's dominance over Ranka to the rights to Alto. Looking forward to episode 12. However, I can't get rid of this nagging feeling that Ranka is a better fit for Alto and Sheryl to Micheal. Ah well. |

| Replaced butchered Sheryl with fanart. klan x michael is a done deal or there really would be a mob lynching. This guy might say otherwise.  Also I think Michael and/or Klan have a high chance of dying, the main 3 is pretty much safe except for maybe Ranka... and if she goes it's in the last episode.. Ozma is safe for a long time due his triangle with Cathy and Leon. Luca dying.. wel no one would give a fuck about it, same for Klan's two squad mates. If they wanna have a significant death around 15-20 bye bye Michael or Klan. Ozma if he dies should be near the end. I also think ranka is a better fit for alto How? She knows nothing about him (because she only talks about herself to him) and it's pretty much a school girl crush atm... heck that's exactly how the manga is depicting it. Their personality and chemistry is also off... Sheryl and Alto are a perfect fit... I've seen dozens of people say they are worried they won't get together because they are too perfect for each other... Oh yeah Ranka Lee cd single is out, Interstellar Flight sucks, everything else is tight. |

She is just more forward *slutty?* than ranka who is shy. Sheryl also has had waaay more time with him, as he somehow keeps winding up on 'missions' with her, and she contrived her way into his school to be with him etc. How can ranka get to know him if her attempts to be with him are always thwarted by circumstance or sheryl herself? What matters is her desire to do so (which was reinforced in the movie episode when sheryl flaunted her knowledge of alto's past...and very next episode we see ranka wanting to be with him...to correct this?) The main reason she talks about her career is because alto was the catalyst that sparked the whole thing. Its natural for them to talk about it, i think its her way of saying 'this is all because of you'. I think ranka clearly does care about him, if she was only concerned for herself why would she bother contacting him, or wanting to see him/get closer to him etc (which sheryl knows, and clearly went out of her way to prevent). It might just be me, but that feels more genuine than sheryl who seemed like he was some sort of conquest for her, a women who saw something she wanted and is gonna make it happen. And that is what she has been doing this whole time. Thats why i think ranka is better for him I think. I'm not trying to argue that this is why ranka will win...cause i don't think anyone realistically believes that will happen at this point ;P Thanks for changing the pic :D |

I'm gonna cheat and copy and paste since I'm argued this to death already. Part in bold is the most delusional Ranka Lee fangirl I've ever seen on the internet. Kawamori set Ranka as a weaker character next to Sheryl so that she can p-r-o-g-r-e-s-s throughout the entire series. Kawamori set Ranka to know LESS of Alto compare to Sheryl so that she can get to know him B-E-T-T-E-R together with us, the audience. What are you on about? Sheryl doesn’t magically know everything about Alto, what she’s found out is a combination of perception, general knowledge (Alto’s dad is famous after all as is Alto in a way) as well as her actually asking Alto questions (why did you join SMS?) instead of talking about herself 99% of the time like Ranka currently does with Alto. We as an audience are also seeing Sheryl getting to know Alto, her present in this episode she knew about because back in episode 6… Sheryl - Hey Alto, do you like this ship? Alto - I hate it I don’t like city ships. Sheryl - Why? Alto - There’s no sky here. When you ask people stuff you get to know them, but if you just talk about yourself you’re not going to know squat about them. This is why Sheryl gets Alto and Ranka doesn’t at this stage, also the chemistry and personality match between Sheryl and Alto is imo far better. Look at how Noe was at the start of the series, look how she overcome her “crutches” at the end without hooking up with Shin, expect the same ending for Ranka. | Hmm...i don't think that ranka will win for the very reasons i mentioned above and what you posted as well...i just disagree that she is a bad fit for alto because on the few times she spoken to him they talked about her career (to be fair one of those times was specifically about that, a congratulations party for her). Ranka is clearly shy, and alto isn't exactly wearing his heart on his sleeve. It doesn't help that ranka idolized sheryl and when she saw her basically throwing herself at alto it made her more gunshy. I guess the argument can stand that since sheryl is such an extrovert and aggressive in her pursuit of what she wants (namely alto), that she is a better match because she can force alto to open up better than ranka (and of course she has the resourses/pull to make it happen). But i don't think that necessarily means she is a better person period or a better person for alto. I agree tho that ranka's character doesn't seem to be meant to just hook up with the male lead but grow through character development and im guessing eventually do something important regarding the aliens. They have been angling that fromt he beginning..that guy who thinks she will win out must be smoking crack. |

| lol @ Ranka fans getting excited, 12's made me up the chances of a Sheryl ending from 60/40 to 70/30. It should be obvious how they will advance the triangle now... the romantic winner generally looks screwed around the 50-75% point. |

| btw I think Sheryl just got her manga series for the show to follow up the Ranka perspective one. Sorahiko Mizushima will launch the Macross Frontier: Dakishimete, Ginga no Hate made (Macross Frontier: Hold Me Tightly to the Edge of the Galaxy) manga series in Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace magazine in the September issue (on sale on July 26). There was already an earlier manga in the same magazine called Macross Frontier Chō Jikū Utahime Ranka (Macross Frontier: The Super Dimension Songstress Ranka) Going by the names of the manga I think it shows what direction the show will be going in. |

| Am I the only one who has a problem with Ranka's reaction to the news on Galia IV? Sheryl falls sick, her and alto and everyone else gets taken hostage and her main concern is "Oh no i can't give my birthday present". I can definitely see Ms Self Centered going down the path of Minmey TV. Now all we need is for Ozma to die, her to use Alto as a clutch even more and after Alto gets hurt try and stop him from flying again. |

I don't know what she she could've said.. but anything would've been better than "Oh my birthday present!" Just makes Ranka look bad but than again that could be the path they are going to take her. Japanese forums are now overwhelming pro Sheryl after episode 12 so that puts them in line with English and Chinese forums. Seryl's going to take an emotional battering in the next 10 episodes over Alto, Career, Grace and her past. I personally think she's a failed clone of Sara Nome or has been altered with Sara Nome DNA. Says Got a cold Canceled my LIVE! Didn't even give the present! And losing to my rival. lol. |

| 12 episodes in, very good stuff so far. I have to comment though, and call everyone a liar who said you didn't need to have watched prior Macross series to watch Frontier. There are plenty of references to SDF Macross events, and while they are given some explanation, I don't see how the show would be as enjoyable without it, plus spoilers for people who haven't seen it. Nevermind that the show just covered Macross Zero, which I haven't even seen yet and might've spoiled some stuff. I hope I haven't been missing Macross 7 references and I hope it doesn't spoil anything, I'm watching that next. |
| Finished it, 9/10 easily. Anyway, I vastly prefer Alto x Ranka to Alto x Sheryl, but I had a feeling near the end they wouldn't make a decision. Ambiguity keeps more fans happy, and they kept switching it till near the end where it looked like it was going to be Alto x Ranka, but they backed off at the very end. I liked Klan Klan better than them both anyway. |
