They're still teenagers ffs! It's stupid to marry at a young age as that. They almost got married, but I'm glad they didn't marry in the end. Let them both be in their 20s first. But then it has an open-ending, as if a sequel could've been made anytime. Just ends on an epic action arc. So Ranma still didn't get to turn back to a guy permanently in the end? Because of Happosai mistaking it for sake? wtf? That was one of the biggest reasons I read this manga, and yet Ranma still be turning into a girl after splashed with cold water. That sucks. They couldn't at least wrap that up?
I was going to slowly read this manga (only reading chapters after the final episode of the 1989 TV anime), but then the remake was announced, and the remake just happened to be airing just a few months after being announced, so I had no choice but the read the manga quickly before the remake starts airing (and the episodes got leaked too, which is even more annoying, but I'm just waiting for the show to actually air before I watch it). But I doubt that the remake will even adapt half the chapters of the manga, because of it being an episodic comedy. So I was better off reading the manga beyond what the 1989 anime adapted.
Anyway, what can I say about this overall? I'm not the biggest fan of this series, but it was okay and it had its fun moments. Mostly funny, but the gag of a character getting booted to the sky was overused and I started hating that. Akane was a violent bitch though, who gets easily offended. She'd hit Ranma if he says something she doesn't like, but won't hit Nabiki if she says something similar? Why? Because Akane hates men, but since Nabiki is not a man, she won't hit her? Ranma is an asshole and this is one of the few shows where I hate the main character (though he sort of redeemed himself in a chapter of the manga, I still don't like him). Happosai is annoying. There is no real story. The only major things that happened in the series is Ryoga getting a gf (even though he's supposed to be one of Ranma's rivals) and Ranma actually reuniting with his mother while as a guy. Everything else is random shit. Shampoo is my favourite character, but her simping for Ranma is so annoying. Ranma has zero interest in her, so Shampoo should just leave him alone. Why doesn't she get that? I get her role is to be one of Akane's rivals, but still. Ukyo is one of the hottest babes I've ever seen in anime/manga. They really never showed Ukyo's nipples at all in the manga in the end? Why? It's an ecchi. Of course not every chapter is focused on ecchi, but it's still an ecchi, no ifs or buts, and I'm disappointed I didn't get to see them (can only rely on nude fanart on google images). They show girls' nipples throughout the manga.
But yeah, not that sad about finishing this. There's just too many annoying moments in this series to miss this. But I prefer Ranma 1/2 over Urusei Yatsura, which is too much of a rom-com for me to like it. At least Ranma 1/2 is only partially a rom-com, and I like that it has a lot of action stuff in it. And I like the 1989 anime more than the manga. Sorry, but I don't like how 99% of the girl nipples they show is girl Ranma's nipples.
Now to wait for the 2024 remake, which apparently censors all the nudity, so I already know it'll be inferior to the 1989 anime, but since the manga mostly only shows girl Ranma's nipples anyway, then I am glad it'll be censored. |
