Really though as for Influential I would say

1. Tupac
2. Biggie
3. Eazy E

Seems to be that most of the top influential artist have passed away. But I suppose that's just the way the world works. You become more influential to society after you die.

That's more like a list of public influential artists, all of those people had beefs going on and all of those beefs were publicized and hyped up by the media (which is bound to influence people to do something extremely idiotic and tragic) so people had all eyes on them. I'd have to keep Big Daddy Kane & Rakim on my list because of 2 reasons: 1. No Big Daddy Kane or Rakim, a quarter of rappers these days wouldn't even exist including Biggie, Tupac, Eminem, or Lil Wayne. 2. When the day comes that they die, though there may not be a national moment of silence, the impact will hit the hip-hop community hard. And it's not even gonna be felt by most of the people that listen to Gucci Mane or Wacka Flocka, it's gonna be felt by the people like me or Binary that really know what the hell BDK and Rakim have contributed to hip-hop.

Oh I mean I understand. I've been listening to hip hop since I was quite young. But honestly I've never really been that into BDK or Rakim. I understand that they are definitely two of the greatest hip hop artists to ever pick up a mic, I personally though have never really been into them.
