THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It has ended... This is by far Winter 2011's best show. It's outstanding. The presentation was absolutely amazing; amazing art, great animation and an absolutely beautiful soundtrack make this anime a work of art. The newcoming seiyuu, especially Takatsuki's, were also splendid.
I loved the anime's story and plot development. The characters were extremely likable too, I love them all. Well, except for Momo. And I disliked Chiba at first too, but once her character developed more, I started to really like her.

Anyway, about this episode, I thought it was great. Like Nitori said, I can't really tell now if Doi's a terrible person or actually kind of nice... His red wig looked funny though.
I'm glad Anna went to see Nitori. I thought they were a great couple. We got some great character development for Anna this episode. I like her even more now.

And nooo, Takatsuki's long hair is gone! ;___; It looked so great on her!
Long hair also looks good on Nitori. He looks like a girl even without his wig, hehe.

The OP at the end of the episode fitted really well. And I'm glad Nitori accepted his voice is changing at that he's hitting puberty.

I felt pretty sad when this episode ended... I really loved this show.
I guess I'll start reading the manga as soon it's released in English. I'll buy it ASAP.

5/5 for this episode and 10/10 for the anime. I'm a huge fan of Takako Shimura's anime adaptions and I'm hoping we'll see a sequel for this or Aoi Hana one day.

EDIT: Oh, I just noticed that the play they were going to perform "Boku wa onnanoko" is the title of one of Takako Shimura's manga. Hehe, kind of a funny reference.

An interesting but enjoyable show to say the least although I still can't tell one character from another. :P

As for the Manga, US publisher Fantagraphics is releasing it in the UK starting in June.

BTW - MAL needs to change the status from "airing" to "finished". ;)

I really liked this episode. I love the way they ended the anime; as I perceive "Hourou Musuko" as more of coming-of-age story than a story about transgenders, I liked the fact Nitori seemed alright with the fact his voice's changing and generally that his body is male, probably. It feels like he has matured. The manga will probably end in some another way, so it was nice to see it end that way in the anime. Also, I loved the Shikii no Juunin and Boku wa Onnanoko references, haha. Chiaki's green hair were so... GREEN!
As I expected, Shu/Anna relationship wasn't left as it was. Now I feel like this moment in the manga was the moment they became a couple again, because it felt more like that now, in the anime. Somehow. About ships, one more thing: I sorta ship Doi/Sasa now, hahaha...
Also, Saori's mom with the "I know this person from somewhere" expression at Fumiya in drag was hilarious.

This finale could deffinitly have been better.
Series was nice and interesting, but not the best of the winter season for me.

@Deathinteresse:
There has only gone 3 months of this year, you haven`t seen any of the animes that are supposed to air in spring, summer, fall or winter :P
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh and I wonder when MAL will put this one to finished status, sometimes they`re so slow to do such :P

It ended perfectly without the need for a sequel (although I would like one), but I'm still wondering if Doi has a secret crush on Nitori. :(

The only character that I'll remember is probably Chii-chan.

On the other hand, I was really hoping that there would be a small glimpse into the future a little where Nitori's voice fully dropped, only to have Norio Wakamoto be voicing him.

Ah, that always happens with airing shows. Apparently I'm also watching Fractale at 11/11 right now. :P

Yeah, people are completely forgetting about Madoka Magica since it hasn't aired in, what, 3 weeks? :/

For a show I wasn't particularly thrilled about at all from start to finish, the ending was pretty good. The fact that Anna met with Nitorin and talked with him about everything gave me a lot of respect for her. She's my second favorite characters in this show, and probably one of the only ones I'll remember. My favorite is, of course, Sarashina.

Doi is still confusing, right up until the ending. I think his feelings kind of got hurt when Nitorin told him he hated him, but I don't know for sure. Just a guess. Oh well. 6/10 in the end for me.

I found that to be a terribly sad ending. Then again, I remember what it was like when my voice broke, so I could be projecting my memories onto the characters. Makes me wish I'd had more courage when I was younger. Then again, growing up in Norfolk (UK), isn't the best place to be trans.

Overall, I really liked this show. It's nice to finally see an anime taking a serious look at what it's like to be young and trans, rather than using sex changes for comedy as so many do.

It was refreshing, characters were charming, and the story was not only great, but also had an interesting point of view.

Beautiful. Stunning portrayal of a subject matter that is rarely investigated/explained. The only flaw is that it was slightly rocky in terms of story flow in the beginning.... but it just kept getting stronger and stronger as the series progressed. A solid 9/10.

9/10 for this show.

I really really like it! And I admit I cried many times. It's something I can relate to and I can say that I felt like Nitori many times in my life.

I would have loved the series to be longer. 11 episodes are really not enough. I really liked the unique art and the relaxing music. Well done to all those who were behind this! Thanks for making this show!

Now I would to read the manga someday :)

One of the refreshing series has ended.

I really liked Nitorin and Anna's conversation and actually put up a big smile in my face when he said that he still loves Anna. <3

This rare kind of show deserves some good score. I'll give this around 8 or 9.

Absolutely amazing, I had little hope for this show, only expecting it to be something I would use just to waste my time, but I'm surprised at how much I ended up caring about the characters.

The ending probably feels rushed because episodes 10 and 11 were combined to make a new episode 10 due to the schedule being disrupted by the recent disaster. Perhaps when the DVD versions with the episode count restored to the planned 12 will make it more satisfactory.

I think it ended as best it could. Nitori "coming out" that is. Rarely do anime endings satisfy me, but this one was alright.

Hopefully the DVD episode won't undo this good ending.

I thought it was going to be Madoka Magica up until an hour or so ago. But these last 2 episodes (I saved them to watch together) just kicked this series up a notch. I'm calling it...

Best of the Season!!!

THIS is how you end (& write, & direct, & animate, & design) an anime series. Thank you Noitamina, you are forgiven for Fractale.

This was such a great show from start to finish. It really is a shame they didn't get two seasons worth of episodes though. It feels like there's a lot more story to be told, both from the past and in the future. Maybe one day we'll get a 2nd season, but for what they had to work with, they did an excellent job. 9/10, great series!

Great final episode.

For the anime-only watchers, definitely check out the manga, it's even better.

This is one of the best of the season for me, only beaten out by Madoka. 9/10
I don't think it's likely we'll get another season in the future, unfortunately. Even though I'd love a sequel to this, or Aoi Hana.

ROFL. That is the funniest image, and Wakamoto is my favorite seiyuu.

No, but i thought him getting back with Anna was a good choice, and it was a very cute scene. Supposing of course, that is what followed. She seemed to like it XD

The episode was good but it wasn't some masterpiece ending.
