Just when things were going well Joe loses control of his body and throws up. Dam, feel really sorry for the fella. Even if he can hit people in the temple it'll just backfire on him :(

I know right, there have been times where I didn't feel bad for Joe because he has been acting like an asshole first half of the anime but now I DO feel really bad for him...

He almost won that fight, too bad that he vomited.
I feel bad about Noriko, she really loves him and she is very worried about him but he doesn't even notice it.

Lol@ Danpei and Nishi for going against each other xD

Joe is on his best way to self destruction, just hope we won't get a tragic end for this anime.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

First, i do enjoy Joe's struggle in trying to get over this and his reaction to hitting someone again in the head feels very in tune with the trauma he has about it. I laughed at the comment that he's expelling Rikiishi when he vomits ahah. Awesome stuff.

But freaking Danpei. Look at that! So turns out telling him and getting to focus on it could have helped! Who knew communication between coach and boxer instead of allowing him to unknowingly go kill himself in a ring when he can't compete on even grounds would be a good idea?... There's either no logic to it or he's just meant to be a terrible, terrible coach. He might be anyway since he never talks strategy, which the show pretends that it's minimal in boxing. And I've had it with him never saying anything straight to Joe until a shit ton of time passes but spending that time always moping around and doing nothing. Honestly, for all the great things the show has done (and what they did with Joe and Rikiishi's respective arcs was/has been amazing), the writing of Danpei is infuriating at times. Because this is clearly just meant to stretch the drama, and not because it makes any sense.

"You good-for-nothing Coach", "Joe deserves a lot better than you" - Nishi, a.k.a a sensible person that actually cares for Joe. Amen you gentle giant, you fight the good fight.

Just like I hoped, Danpei explained what's happening to him, and of course, Joe had no clue, and quickly became petrified. The fight didn't take long to begin, with literally zero buildup, we got it. Joe managed to bypass the barrier, and while the consequences were physical, the cause was psychological.

Sure, Danpei's choices are questionable, not telling him what's wrong and now even discouraging him. But it's not like he was a good coach before. He only taught some basics, after which he was content when Joe was a one trick pony with the cross counter. It was stranger than this behaviour, not teaching different tactics or how to defend. One well-developed skill won't work on every opponent, a good coach should take that into account.

His psychological scar caused him to only hit someone on the temple when he snapped. But the image of Rikiishi's death kept haunting him.
