| He's trying to increase the Up meter before using all the anchor panels so that they can get a complete victory and advance to the second round. Anyways, Zero's gotta be cautious, as the other two have not noticed yet and may end up picking those spaces instead of him. However, we have to be aware that Zero's theory has not even been proven right, so the fact that the anchor panels are hidden within the spaces that compose the word may end up being false, who knows. |

| I like how Fukumoto gives his villains at least a minor amount of characterization. Sure it isn't a lot, but I think even a tiny amount of backstory is cool for a villain character. |
| Once more Zero is pitted against his opposite, the sadistic who will use trickery to challenge his ideas of friendship, compassion, trust. But like the others, our tenacious boy will keep tenacious, stay calm, keep hope in hand, and defeat Kotarou. I suppose one strong message in Zero is of hope. Something like, if you hold onto your values and stay determined, keep sight of the real enemy, there is always a path forward. Earlier I stated that this kind of game is one which, assuming I don't have the answers, I must simply nod my head at what the others say. This is quite extreme in this case because it is trivia, a yes or no test of logic. There isn't much to it, there isn't even much conflict between the boys to worry about yet. However as suspected, Zero's plan has given it a jolt of life. To hide the fact that you know what the opponent doesn't think you know and pull the beard over their eyes is always a super fun part of competition in stories and life. |
