Weapons of mass destruction, human experimentation, totalitarianism, extreme xenophobia, non-people, war profiteering, using the guise of an emergency to usurp power, military operations acting independent of sovereign borders, and sacrificing people to enact a perceived necessary evil for some grand ambition for power and control. All of this while utilizing actual mysticism and the salty jingoism seasoned with old tales featuring warriors dying proud for a greater good.

This anime is certainly a lot of things.

If Symbol is so powerful, why haven't they wiped out the Gowa family? Maybe because they want to see how far the power of the Gasaraki goes?
The internal democracy of the Gowa family is incredible, in reality the father of the family would never have let that happen. Use Japan against Symbol. But Japan we have those who are against the Gowa family, the AT pilots themselves and the police unit that went to talk to the now head of the Gowa family.
The power wielders going for their future, but it seems that the real Gasaraki is being born. A gasaraki that works with no one else to control it. Does the protagonist's sister have a role? How many kai are there? Who decides or how is it decided who becomes a kai? Do they have any different physical characteristics from other humans apart from being bearers of power?
@Martin_Taylor same doubts, I imagine that a kai is a wielder of power.
@shocked couldn't have described it better. Let me copy you xD.
