| I got goosebumps like back in the days, that's always a good sign. Although it wasn't as good as the series, it was still enjoyable. Wish it was dubbed since I loved the dub. 7/10 |
| This movie suffered from very inconsistent pacing. Most of the characters were barely introduced, I wish it could have spent some time with that rather than always going for the "cool" moments. |
| I expected something better. It didn't have the same magic as the series did. Thank goodness it lacked the emo bullshit of Rossiu. The animations of the new scenes was sloppy. At least they could've remake the scenes of that badly animated episode 4. At least it gave back bits of the mood of the series. |
| only thing was changed was the ending to be more a fitting end of the movie. They didn't improved the art style (not change it). Yoko finally got undressed while fighting. Gainax loves to make recap movies, huh? |

| Epic!!! Though I know there are flaws, such as the pace, too quick for character development ( like Rossiu, Kittan,..) The 2nd half was awesome, seeing Simon becoming badass all over again makes me feel really good. Seeing the movie reminds of the awesome Kamina, well sexy Yoko, now badass Simon,... I wonder why I didn't decide to watch this until after 2 years since I watched the gurren lagann tv series. |

| Well obviously, this movie is going to be rushed with less than 2 hours of footage. Kamina is still a boss though, no doubt about that. Well, the beginning and a lot of the speeches/dialogues are the same as the TV series. Well, I'm glad the generals were introduced..and dat kiss. I still remember this like no tomorrow:  Kamina-sama :((( Oh and Nia also got introduced. Nice. That second fight was rushed as hell though. Damn it. Who the hell do you think we are?! 7/10 for the movie. I missed this shit. |

| After years of watching TTGL, feels good watching this movie. Which was essentially a fast version of the first part of the series. It brought back so many nostalgic feelings of amaze. I can't even. Kamina feels a plenty. I could never forget how bloody epic this franchise is. |

| wow, just watched the first movie from the bluray boxset. pretty damn amazing, animation got a slight bump, the giga drill breaks got even better voice overs (especially kaminas) and besides the ending fight, it was everything that made the 1st 14 episodes so great. dat giga drill break team gurren special after that speech |

| Awersome Movie. I had allready seen TTGL, and it is like recording the first part of anime, with different animation, the story is very good like the original, with some minor cuts to fit in a movie size, but the most important things (the begin, the punch of Kamina to Simon, Kamina's death, and Simon making himself more auto-confident) are here and with some details (not running fast like other anime movies). If you don't saw the anime and don't want to "lose" 20*26min, you can see the two movies and have a very good summary of the story (I have not seen yet the second, but think that hold the quality) Sent with Mal Updater |

| That was damn sad watching Kamina's death and everyones sorrow a second time, but damn was it a great choice to watch the movies rather than the series again within the same month of completion. Who knew destruction could be so beautiful?  |

| The Near ending was epic...Simon just Thrust in Gurren And Start Attaching an Air-Craft type Gunmen to the back and BOOM!...all the Lights goes to Gurren Lagann And Simon Made a WAY Epic Entrance then is TV series. |

| They removed everything I hated in the show, but at the same time made you care even less about the characters. Kamina was still a prick and bad influence on Simon. Yoko was still just walking pair of tits. |

| Hmm other than the ending, pretty much only reused scenes from the anime. The ending final fight between the "four" generals was a cool fight though. 8/10 (Doesnt help that I literally just finished the anime the night before either :D) |

| Really wanted to enter the TTGL franchise for a long time but just never did. It's more fun watching anime with others, finding others keen on watching/rewatching Gurren Lagann was an offer one can't refuse. I made the right decision to step into this world of manliness. Attacks like throwing the Gurren and sunglasses is just so outlandish. Even though I hadn't seen the TV series when I first saw this movie I had a feeling they were raising the pace the Rap is a Man's Soul montage. Having not seen it and not knowing any characters beyond the main trio, I felt Yoko was in a love triangle with Kamina and Simon so the introduction of Nia was kind of intrusive for me. |

You're doing a disservice to yourself by not watching the original TV series, it's amazing and absolutely worth watching. This movie was pretty good too, the main complaint is its pacing, obviously. The cuts between some scenes are too fast (it's particularly noticeable in the middle of the movie after Kamina's death). New content is pretty neat though. |
| Watching this is reminds me how good the series was. Some storyline were changed but I think they did it pretty well. |
