I knew that I was going to cry, but not this much. This is truly the peak of fiction, that is all there is to say.

Man, this still gets to me. The video suddenly stopping killed the mood but it stopped me from completely losing it.

Ahh what do I say, it was a really well done episode
Felt bad for Ushio coz no mom, trash dad and also strict Sanae
Love how Tomoya realises that he's worser than his father, dude finally came back to reality

It's almost been five years - Ushio's age - since I last watched After Story. So much of this resonated and registered in a whole new light. Before, I was mainly thinking about Tomoya's perspective and took Ushio's loneliness for granted. It's not to say I wasn't aware of how hard it was for her, but I often found myself downplaying it with things like "She's too young to understand what's going on." But I know that's not true, since I remember breaking down crying on the school playground when I was her age because my father had been stationed overseas for over a year. Thanks to another favorite anime of mine, I was able to better appreciate those moments where Ushio would stare at Tomoya intently with wonder, waiting for her father to praise or smile at her.

I still stand by my thoughts from years past - among my favorite scenes in all of anime.

After many, many episodes where the quality varied between ok, mediocre or abyss fiction, this episode was actually phenomenal are easily my favourite episode of the series hands down. this time it didnt feel like pure melodrama for the sake of sucking out emotions like with most episodes of the show, this was actually raw and genuine and very needed development for tomoya, the highlight was the sunflower scene where ushio just cries in tomoya's arms and it did something the series didn't do for the past 17 episodes and strike me deep emotionally, to the point where i was tearing up.

Really touching episode…
First time I got tears from Clannad.
Ushio is so adorable but I also miss Nagisa.
I finally understand why people say it’s so good.

Also (maybe) a Spoiler for next episodes, (It’s just my assumption):

Clannad has the power to make everyone cry, from the the people that binge watch every TV drama available, to people like me, that cry every time a pope dies. These tears are not only produced by sadness, they sprout from all the spectrum of emotion. There really isn't a sensation that this show hasn't been able to make me feel.

My tissue box retired during this episode
I felt so much emotion even during the subtle scenes with mere mentions of Nagisa or Naoyuki drenched me in tears, then Ushio asking if it alright to cry when I'm already crying especially when Tomoya talks about Nagisa, and those flashbacks were the most tear jerking scene

What a beautiful episode

@JohnZ_GGs Episode 18 hits like a truck, doesn't it? The defining moment of Clannad and one of the best anime episodes ever. I wish I could watch it again for the first time.

Never thought I’d ugly cry because of a movie/episode, let alone an anime episode, but here I am. The second half of AS is just timeless, and make all the previous episodes much more valuable.

Only 6 episodes left, I'm not sure how everything's going to be wrapped up in a satisfying manner. I think that Okazaki's past comes at a weird moment, it would have been better if we had known at least parts of it before getting here and rather than retroactively rationalising what Tomoya is currently going through, we'd watch him fall into the same pattern as his father.

I wonder if Okazaki can stop being so stubborn and just move in with the Furukawas, at least for some time, so that he can share the burden of raising Ushio while not failing his job/life prospects like his father. I'm sure that they would like to do that, considering Ushio became the dream of what became their own dream - Nagisa. At some point he should accept and care for the blessings that life has given him, instead of just going over his bad lots in life. He also has next to no friends currently (probably not communicating with the old bunch until next episodes come around) and he is stuck at a dead-end job anyway, why would he care what society thinks of his lifestyle? Please take note of at least one thing that Nagisa has and incorporate it into your life - that being her parents' non-conmformist approach to life. People like that are probably rarer than anyone else in Japan.

It's strange, isn't it? I want to go back and watch Season 1 for the 4th time, even though it's been less than half a year since I saw it for the third time. I'm not sure what else Afterstory has in store for me, but the first one is somehow still my favourite season.
