Hey guys, has anyone heard anything new about the movie that came out last week? Last I heard, they released a new PV, but beyond that I've seen absolutely no word about how its premiere went, no reviews, no links to it anywhere. Anything new would be appreciated~~

Considering the fact that I went to see the movie last weekend, I think I could offer you some info.
In theatres, the movie comes in two parts. The first was about a half hour long, and was three separate short stories taking place at various times throughout the series. The first was about Shiki and Mikiya adopting a stray cat, the second was about a lesbian psychic chick and Asagami, and the third was a beautiful walk and talk which ended in an absolutely gorgeous scene in the snow.

Then the actual movie started. And DAMN was it a good one. I'd put it at least on par with the third, if not slightly better. The short and the movie combined were two hours, so actually longer than what one might expect. Not sure when any DVDs will be coming out unfortunately. :/ I can however tell you that I went on the second weekend, in not too huge a theatre, and the room was pretty much full. On my way there, I ran into quite a few people walking out of the previous screening, reading the free handout book.

That's all I can really offer, but I can assure you that it is a pretty damn good movie. Much lighter than most of the other films, and definitely different, but we're they all.

whoaa...I really can't wait to watch. Damn I wish I live in Japan.

@elean: the ost I know is "Hallelujah" by Kalafina (I think it's the ending song) And pretty awesome as usual.

I already have them but the scene I mentioned is like what he described(even as a monologue) for me.

I just hope that it will be animated at the end of the movie.

So @maxtheax I finally saw the movies a few weeks back, figured I'd catch up with you on this. Overall the actual movie was a little disappointing, but the extra chorus was really short and sweet. I was a bit surprised because they altered shiki's character design to be softer. It also seemed like they were aiming for continuity in art quality overall. What did you think?

So, I've been checking pretty regularly to see if there's any news regarding a U.S. release of Mirai Fukuin and/or Extra Chorus, and there hasn't been anything so far. Even the licensing info I've seen is conflicting (here on MAL there's no licensor listed for Mirai Fukuin or Extra Chorus, and on Wikipedia it says Aniplex of America licensed Mirai Fukuin, but there's no mention one way or the other about Extra Chorus). There's been no news on Aniplex of America's website, and the little bits and pieces I've seen regarding various promotional events in Japan by Aniplex and Ufotable and whoever else is behind the films haven't yielded any information either. I even tried looking at the Japanese Kara no Kyoukai and Aniplex websites via Google Translate (that's the best I can do; I know almost no Japanese, and I don't know if there's anything else like Google Translate that's better).

I'm just really surprised that there's been nothing said in any official capacity. I'd think the fact that the Japanese release doesn't have English subtitles is a pretty good indicator that there will be an American release (this is all under the assumption that Aniplex would want to release Mirai Fukuin and Extra Chorus in the U.S.). The lack of English subtitles on the Japanese home release inherently means that to release it in the U.S., Aniplex of America would need to sub it. But that doesn't explain why there's been no official word at all. The closest thing I've found is that, in an Aniplex panel at a convention here in the U.S., someone asked about the U.S. release of Mirai Fukuin, and the person from AoA just said something like, "No comment". This seems like a pretty indirect nod that, yes, it will happen. But, again, why is there no official word on this?

The only other thing I could think of that would cause a delay would be if AoA is doing something a bit more intensive than simply translating the import. Since we haven't gotten the standard edition of the Blu-ray release here in the U.S., I wonder if they might be doing some sort of Blu-ray compilation with all the films. I also wonder about the prospect of AoA deciding to dub Mirai Fukuin and Extra Chorus (and possibly the rest of the series as well). But, yet again, why no official word from anybody about anything (even just saying that AoA licensed it)? It's not even listed on AoA's website (the Kara no Kyoukai page hasn't been updated in quite a while, aside from noting that the LE DVD set is sold out).

My time spent looking at the Aniplex of America website leads me to believe that they, like all the other companies that localize and distribute anime in the U.S., like to hype things. A lot.

I know that licensing can get pretty complicated, so I can't help but wonder if my lack of knowledge about how all that works is leading me to miss something that may be obvious to a lot of other people. Maybe someone who's more familiar with how all of this works (this is the first time I've followed an anime from its initial airing in Japan to an assumed U.S. release) could enlighten me?
