Seems to be a very interesting contest.
Gonna join in. Do you have what it takes for it?? xD
Spoiler free btw (except one, that as to be told, you will see when we get there).
In terms of the story, this FF feels like a sequel to MLA, as MLA felt as a sequel to Unlimited.
Whoever, it had more ups and downs than MLA, not so consistent, but for one that readed MLA, there are going to be some moments that will make you relieve MLA, and tears may came.
Cons:
-Really slow sometimes boring moments, sometimes too slice of life IMO;
-Takeru feels a bit more like a shounen character than on MLA, it is still Takeru , but he was less darker most of the times, his behavior felt more innoncent...;
-Remenber going throught the training arc all over again on MLA, same for this, and again while it is not boring at all for the most part, until Coupe d'Etát arc starts most of the stuff is similiar in terms of events progression (with obviously some changes), but still worth reading, since it is the basis for the continous development of Takeru, you have to read this for the same reason you had to read the training arc in MLA.
Pros:
-"his behavior felt more innoncent", but that also could be argued as his innerself, his mind, protecting him from all of the horror he faced on MLA, by behaving less strictly, he is a brighter personality. The more danger you face the more you value life, the more violence and unfairness you experienced, the kinder you became. IMO he values more these warmer emotions, because he faced the worst of the opposite on MLA;
- He remenbers EVERYTHING major from Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative!! That also makes for a more bulky Takeru, than on MLA, he charges more headfirst, and he gets more results... some moments were really epic! Thus he gets more injured (trust me alot more...) here, than on MLA. It was like that on MLA it was time to get psychological mindfucked, this is time to pay with the body, lots more of Takeru's blood were shed during the making of!!;
-The comedy, the moments between him and his (bigger) harem, are really nice and felt natural for the most part, this is where it shined more for me. It really felt like a continuation to MLA, because how well most of the characters remain faithfull to their personalities, how they behave;
-Characters from ML unlimited the day after appears (alot of them), making the whole cast way wider than MLA, is references to other Age's works.
Mixed feelings:
-(add some powers... like faster reflexes, faster than MLA, this one is godly!! but there is another one later on, too much OP at first, that will take some time to get used to, but that can be explained as a consequence of him being the casuality conductor)
(the following is the spoiler, that IMO wasnt really a spoiler, since I expected this, I wanted this...)
-He said he would redo, go through all that suffering again in order to change his closed ones fate. And he does that, trust me he almost kills himself many times, just to change fate... this means almost no deaths, especially from the main cast. So all those emotional impacts moments MLA had, when you had to say farewell to the closest ones, arent there, BUT are at the same time... It is when you reminiscence the tragic past, and see the current Takeru giving his upmost to save them, to give the world a better future, when you remenber everything he done till now, that is when the feels are stronger in this FF.
In resume, this is the fanservice that most of the fanbase that get hit by the MLA "suck it" fate, want. In the end reading this made it easier to accept what happened. I dont love MLA more than before, I accept it more now.
I can consider MLA as cannon, ended there, end of the story!!
At the same time, I felt gratefull for having this unnoficial sequel, which I also consider as cannon.
If there was to be created a sequel to MLA by age (instead of more side stories of the BETA world, outside the trilogy fandom), it would at least have to be similiar to this one on most of its traits, this is the closest you can get with a sequel to MLA, and this is a big plus.
PS: The FF cant by copy pasted to your PC, you need to read online. For this matter, if you want to avoid to be reading online, and want stuff with you, tell me so. After lots of search I found a program that bypassed the site copy paste protection, so I could read the FF on my smartphone, on word documents. Documents I can pass to you.
:)
As a fellow fan, did you tried out MV One Last time into the Loop??
We (Refrain Subs) are actually subbing Little Busters EX, so I helped sub episodes 1,2, and I'll help out with 5-8 which have Sasami and Futaki's routes.
Yui Horie's voicing for Riki in ep 11 was also especially great. Masato's parts I thought were really awkward and the voicing felt wrong, but our kinniku warrior did enough for me in the VN, I suppose =/
IT'S HAPPENINGGGGGGGG

That said, I have reached the conclusion that MOST of the movie is still pretty good, albeit nowhere near AS good as the show it's a sequel to. It's just the ending that throws me off to the point where, even if I no longer rate the movie a 1/10, I still have no idea WHAT rating to give it.
