Overseas Screenings?

Hi. Does anyone know if this will be screening in Australia at any point? I had a look around google but couldn't find anything out. I'd love to see this on the big screen, before it comes out on bluray.

It just recently premiered on 20th July, 2013 in Japan.

It might take weeks, perhaps months before it catches attention of film distributors in your country. Actually, as this is an art film intended for adult audiences, instead of fantasy easily accessible to all people including kids, distribution could be limited.
I'm afraid poor quality DVD (those made by pirates and taken from the theater) would be faster, but I recommend that you watch it in the theater; the hand-written animation quality is amazing although direction is subdued and nothing is very "flashy".

It will compete in Venice Movie Festival for the Gold Lion. It matters little to me whether it will do well there- to me, it's already his masterpiece, on par with Totoro and Laputa and Spirited Away (or perhaps better as it kind of grew on me after watching it). If you've studied Japanese language, Kaze Tachinu is in the theaters now.Come.

thanks for the reply. i thought there might be a chance it will screen in australia, because the recent Wolf Children received a screening here I think not long after it screened in Japan.

And awesome to hear that you consider it Miyazaki's masterpiece. I'm very excited.

"Studio Ghibli International announced more screenings for The Wind Rises, on Sunday. The movie will open at limited screenings in North America on February 21, followed by wide release on February 28. It will open in Australia on February 27 and then in Britain on May 9."

Yes it is!! I just saw it today in the cinemas. Well in Sydney it is anyways... It's at Dendy in Newtown (though the prices are quite expensive here since it's a small theater) and at the George St Event Cinemas in the City. Not sure how long they'll be in the cinemas though...but they are playing it now!! YAY!

GSC Malaysia will be screening The Wind Rises this April (BOO I WANT IT RN ;_;)
I know it's unrelated to what OP wants but just sth that I wanna tell....www

and I hope with this there will be more anime movies here in Malaysia cinemas... I can only hope hajkfhajkff

I've been seeing big posters of this movie in various London Underground stations lately! So cool to see an anime movie being advertised like this over here. Comes out 9th of May so I'll be going if I get the chance.

Might take a pic next time I see them...
