This treasure hunt offers some of the most beautiful and interesting content in freaking Zero, and what's wild is that it's revolving around the family I once considered overly simplistic. No matter how simple they seem, they have had a nuance of experiences. Like everyone, even if they don't jump out at you.

This one in particular got me emotional very quickly once again. Similar to how I was immediately teary-eyed when I saw the daughter with her dad overlooking the lights, this one got me. But not because of how beautiful such an experience inherently is, rather how reasonably tragic and frightening it was.

A child put into oblivious danger because she didn't know any better, and was hurt by her annoyed older brother, just being an older brother annoyed at his younger sibling. There's nothing special here, and for that, it felt kinda like Totoro when Mei goes missing. The father had a lapse of judgement in not building the fence, leaving them unsupervised at the swamp, and the kids were just kids. From that alone we almost had a tragedy emerge, along with anger, fear, panic, guilt, sadness. Ain't that life?

However, it turns into something which is warm and joyous but also a direct parallel of what's going on now. A crying sister being sent to get her older brother, the older brother needing to use his own head to save their father while he is trapped. Teamwork. And in the process becoming closer and hopefully appreciating life as a blessing.

What really messed me up was that I got that exact feeling, a feeling of happy and sad acceptance and bliss from his conversation about children growing older. A strong feeling that, if we don't ask more from life than it has to offer, rather accept it, then our best can really be enough!!! We can thrive and find joy through the simple things.

I can't help but think of this arc as a much sweeter Kamui arc.
