And we're back to the present! Great to see the current cast of characters Teiichi, Kirie and Momoe but this means we really only get a glimpse of Yuuko.

Old school building's been destroyed but Teiichi finds the drawer with the comb in it among the rubble. Unless I missed it we don't see when he gives the comb to Kirie but she has it later and shows it to her grandmother who is also prowling around the old school grounds. Must have been during the good chat that Kirie and Teiichi had on the bench.

Must see what happens next month now that Yuuko has let go of her grudge with her sister. Kirie tells her to talk to her, to reach out to her after 60 years. There are things Yuuko does not know about Kirie's grandmother. Will it be a good chat? Hopefully we'll know May 22nd when the next issue comes out...

BTW, June 22nd for volume 9 of the manga.

She's probably going to come back in the next chapter from what I'm guessing though.

Yukariko finally opened her eyes thanks to Kirie, the ending implies that we will see them talk, I sure hope so, I want to see Yuuko...

That's probably right.

Hmm I don't really like the fact that she might come back. A ghost after all is still a ghost. Once they disappear they should stay gone. But seeing as thats its likely Yuuko is going to return, I'm not gonna like the ending much.

The beginning with Teiichi feeling lonely without Yuuko was quite saddening. I mean she's always around teasing Teiichi and making him feel awkward but in a good way. Kirie finally persuades Yukariko that Yuuko isn't haunting her anymore and rather she is the one who still feels guilty and sees a dark haunted shadow of 'Yuuko'. An ending without Yuuko would be perfect to be honest, very bittersweet but I'm sure Yuuko's going to come back. It just isn't Tasogare without Yuuko. :)

It's not the best ending, I know, but Yuuko has to come back.

The series is called Tasogare Otome x Amnesia. It needs the Tasogare Otome at least! Though it will be interesting if she has lost her Amnesia for good if/when she returns. But if Kage Yuuko is gone, isn't she sort of the Tasogare part of the Otome? Hmm... otherwise if it is just happy, fun Yuuko then you sort of just have the Otome but I suppose Kirie could also become the Otome.

Does one need anime spoilers here? Different 'ending' of course but she does ...

In a way I've always felt bad for the real people in the club who like him when he is really in love with a ghost, and a hot one at that. Would be an interesting story for him to simply have a love triangle with Kirie and Momoe now but that would be a very different story and Japanese stories rarely do that for more than a final chapter or two of epilogue. Book 9 is coming out soon so unless it is ending RIGHT NOW for the last chapter of book nine I think Yuuko will come back for at least book a ten worth of stories.

The bit about Yukariko spreading the stories was nice, I'm glad she could have been involved in helping Yuuko move on. I'm kind of alright with the idea of Yuuko returning because she has grown to accept what has happened. Sure, she won't grow old or experience life with others but I think she could still enjoy her time with those who know her.

I'm torn between two feelings right now. On the one hand a bittersweet ending would be a nice conclusion to a ghost story, a rather dark one at that, but on the other hand I really want to see Yuuko and Teiichi smile at the end. After all they parted while trying to reach out to each other, sadness and the desire to touch the other clearly showing on their both faces...

I must say, while many consider the anime ending to be a Hollywood style cop out of a happy ending, I absolutely loved it! One of my favorite endings ever and I found it very emotional so if something similar were to happen in the manga I would be pleased. Also it would mean the story can continue until Meibi/Maybe gets bored of it while if Yuuko has faded away for good then the story will probably end with the tenth volume with some sort of relationship with Kirie or long shot Momoe; I would be happy with that as well... so I'm good either way.

I can see why some people would be disappointed with the anime ending. People seem to love bittersweet endings as much as others do love standard (read: happy end) ones hence one side is always bound to lose.
I remember watching it last year and when Yuuko and Teiichi parted, I had tears flowing all over my face and frankly, I could have accepted that as a satisfying ending. As you know, it turned out otherwise and I was content with it nonetheless; but that's just me being open to all kinds of endings, really.

"The hearts of the dead did change. What didn't change, was the hearts of the living."

Yukariko is more willing to listen now. Before, she'd have nothing of what Kirie had to say about Yuuko. I hope Kirie would tell her about how she too was also able to see Yuuko, and that her grandma would believe her.

The old school building was finally torn down. I hope they gave Yuuko's remains a proper ceremony and all the respect it deserves. The Paranormal Investigations Club will never be the same again without its "absentee" President or its original clubroom. Since the anime already explored one of the options for an ending, chances are the manga could go a different path.

I don't think I will ever understand why a bittersweet ending would be the best, at least I hope this doesn't have one. I would like it if it ends with Teiichi's death and them being together, if she came back it would pose too many problems (e.g. ageing).

Now there's an ending I HADN'T considered!

I won't get chapter 44 until at least the 25th, maybe later... can't wait!

It's been over a year, maybe close to two, since I stopped reading this. There was no reason to it, I just wanted to read it all st once.

I have mixed feelings about this. So far it's been going great. There have finally revealed a lot of things that are important to the story and Yuko has passed on. I hope that they don't ruin it and get her back somehow. Teichi loves her and she does him as well but there is no way they can be together. She is dead.

With 11 chapters left, I hope the author does not pull something weird plot twist out of his ass and ruin what is turning out to be a great conclusión to this great story.
