The guitar that you have always yearned for.

You can be as detailed as you want or as vague as you want.

Head: Archtop
Neck: Rosewood
Fretboard Material: Maple
Frets: 24
Inlays: Pearl, at every major
Tuners: Silver
Pickups: 2 Humbuckers, and a P-90 Single Coil in the center.
Body Style: Stratocaster
Body Material: Rosewood
Knobs: 8 (1 for signal path, 2 per humbucker for tone and volume, and 2 for the single coil for tone and volume, and a master volume and tone)

Also, on the head I'd like it to say "Nathan" in big swoopy cursive letters, carved in of course.
I'm back.

Wow Sick-Bastard replied to my lowly post.

But anyway, I can picture it. I especially love the P-90 as the center pickup.

Single coils are sexy.

Honestly, I have a hard time thinking of one guitar in particular that I'd just love to have above all others. Rather than that I'd prefer to have something less amazing (but certainly nice) in a few different styles - a Gretsch hollowbody, for instance, and a Taylor acoustic.

But looking at how much enjoyment I get out of the guitars I have now, if I had to pick one I'd end up settling on a Strat. It's quite versatile and I'm partial to single coil pickups so I love the sound. I'm thinking a '57 model, white with a white pickguard and a maple neck or perhaps a rather worn sunburst with a tortoiseshell pickguard instead.

That sounds like collector's guitar, especially with the tortoise shell pickguard which would make it incredibly rare.

I'm not even sure if such a thing exists... in fact, I'm thinking it probably doesn't as that was pretty early in the history of the electric guitar and I doubt they even made tortoiseshell pickguard back then. I just happen to like that aesthetic. But yeah, a '57 is about as collectible as they get, and I expect one in decent shape may even sell for over $100k. Needless to say, it's never something I'll be able to afford hehe.

Well I'd find a way to get it matter what. But for the tortoise shell pickguard how about this http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/099-2142-000/

It actually wouldn't fit - the screw holes are placed differently now than they used to be. But you can probably buy one that would fit somewhere, or have it made. I mean, after spending many tens of thousands of dollars on a guitar I guess having a pickguard custom-made would be chump change.

An Ibanez RG Prestige, that's a good choice. Me personally I would change the color to maybe a dark shade of red. But overall this is one of the most reliable guitars in the world.

Gibson explorer in white or black.
I'd customise it so it had a pearlescent pick guard thingy with a purple/green base colour.
I'd like to have 24 frets if it was possible, and that would be all I wanted <3

Currently...a Takamine New Yorker acoustic. Which is not much of a step up for me. lol

But as for electric, sometime in the future, I would to have a custom ESP built. Something akin to the old Ibanez I use.
But...while Ibanez has declined in quality since the early 80s (when mine was built), I have only had good things said of ESP. Only played well made ones, no lemons as far as the ones I have tried. And the custom shop is supposed to absolutely rock.

Wish I could find a few more of the old Ibanez guitars I like, though. To be honest, it will be hard to match the feel and sound of those early 80s Roadstars...

I kind of already own my dream guitar, which is a Black Ibanez Iceman, but also think that a 24-fret Gibson Explorer would've been nice to have

I really dream have one day a Gibson Les Paul, a Fender Strato Sunburst HSS or an Ibanez JEM like the white flowered scale one that Steve Vai uses...
For me, they are the most wonderful guitars in the world *-*

Same here for those guitars! Especially the Ibanez. Steve's is so awesome. Wish I could get customs.

I've never really found anything close to what I actually want.

Strings: 7

Neck: Walnut/Maple 5pc neck-thru body (I've never seen this combination before, having 3 pieces of walnut and 2 pieces of maple, still haven't fully decided on it though)

Fretboard Material: Ebony
Frets: 24

Pickups: 2 passive Humbuckers, possibly a Seymour Duncan Distortion SH-6 in the bridge, I'll have to decide what I want in the neck.

Body Style: Relatively standard Strat-ish shape, as long as it's about a 2''/5cm thick preferably archtop solid body

Body Material: Mahogany with Maple top

Knobs: 1 + the pickup switch (less holes in the body makes it so that your resonance is less disturbed, giving you a fuller sound, and better sustain).

Bridge: Locking Fixed Bridge, I've been using a tremolo for a few years, DO NOT WANT.

Scale: 27'' (measurement from bridge to nut, for those who don't know, a standard jumbo fret guitar is 25.5)

Other: Neck-thru, only through the Mahogany, not the Maple top.

I'll spare other details such as the thickness of the neck, but I would be plenty satisfied if I had this in my hands.

sounds pretty awesome, never even thought of what you said about the knobs though, that's a good idea. Search for a good custom shop online? I know they may be a bit pricey but worth it :s

My dream guitar would be a Pink fender strat with a maple fretboard.
For pickups only a seymour duncan Invader in the bridge position.
Maybe also some weird ass abstract design on the body.
