| I've got pretty mixed feelings when it comes to this second half so far, but Yoshino's crying scene was quite amazing. It's such a great way of adressing the tough topic of grief and how hard it is to process it, how hard it is to accept that there's just nothing you can do and that nothing will ever be the same again, no matter if you break in tears or let yourself be consummed by anger, and yet, bottling up your emotions in an attempt to ignore them is no better, because the pain isn't gone, it's just hidden, and it's even more devastating than if you let it all out. Despite the flaws, I really believe that this show's main strength is its main characters' psychology, and this scene was the perfect example. However, I wonder how Yoshino will be like now that his mask has fallen. This episode showed him behave the same way as usual after his breakdown, all calm and collected, so I hope we'll actually get to see what changed inside him soon or later. At least, this confrontation with Mahiro should be interesting. Oh, and a last thing I wanted to mention : I love the way Yoshino's voice actor portrayed his breakdown. It really sounded like someone who's kept his emotions hidden for so long, he barely knows how to properly let it out, even when he's crushed under the pain. It's a great detail. |
