Those useless fire lance guys...
I felt like Dick Dastardly shouting at the telly.

DON'T JUST STAND THERE, DO SOMETHING!!!

It's really annoying me because up until now every character from the Mikado down to lowly conscript militiamen have been sensible, at least competent at their jobs and made realistic decisions considering their circumstances and station. It was really refreshing, sicne anime tends to be plagued with irrational strawman characters and useless fanatical minions. Sigh, and now this farce. A thousand elite spearmen, hand picked from the regulars and all we get are a chorus of gawping idiots standing around like lemons watching Rarunga attack the Hunters and their beloved Prince Chagum , one of whom manages to get disarmed by an untrained civilian herbalist. Hand picked force my arse.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt jst once: they were never ordered to attack, and I suppose seeing what is essentially a malicious deity emerge into the mortal plane and glide through solid objects would give most soldiers a case of the willies. Even accounting for that, a poor performance all round from the Shin-Yogo armed forces.

"Look, look, we can do spinning shots without wasting our entire budget"
"Did you see? Look, it's all smooth and everything !"
"You're not looking, please, it's SO AWESOME LOOK AT HOW SPINNY IT IS!!!!"

Chagum is maturing, but he's still just a kid. He wants a mother and father figure, which is why he's trying to push Balsa and Tanda together. He wants a sense of normalcy. Though he also reminds me of Keiko from Pink. Where because they're kids, they just advise the adults, who like each other, to just date. It seems so simple to their minds, but they miss the other complications that an adult would think of.

And wtf is Chagum doing? Why did he just run off like that???
