Hi. Here is the synopsis about this series on the MAL page:

In the beginning of the 21st century, a world war breaks out over interplanetary travel tech. The environment is pretty much destroyed so mankind leaves Earth and starts Star Calendar 00. Entertainment and songs become heavily regulated and eventually banned due to their power to move people, but a brave idol group puts on guerrilla performances in the name of a famous act from earlier times that sang to Earth's bitter end, AKB48. The illegal revival group's name is... AKB0048.

What I am wondering is where was it revealed so far anything about Earth's bitter end and that backstory? I don't remember seeing that in any of the first 8 episodes, so where did those things come from? Have I forgotten something or does this synopsis contain spoilers about some of the final four episodes?

I think this anime is the type that focus on what's happening in the show than go back and give us history about the world. Well there's more ep so maybe they'll collaborate later but now, they're just focusing on the girls' timeline and let people get the history stuffs from synopsis. I think the show is like thousand of yrs into the future? I guess that's why they don't think it's important to collaborating on the history of earth.

I don't really think the show will delve into that. I think that bit of the synopsis is mainly used for timeline purposes. To tell the viewer what time the anime is set in.

Oooouuuuhhhh.... Thtz the same thinkz thtz i thought.. But the synopsis still bugged me.. What year again ????

I dont remember a specific being mentioned. Lets just say a year in the very distant future. 48 years post apocalyptic, totalitarian future.
