Is it just me or is it really weird that good serious show like this one is scored barely under 7 and some anonymous random episodic shows that can offer almost only copycat fan service go even up to 8.

personally i gave this anime a 7. i'm not going to say it was bad it was good. but it just wan't very good. the ending confused me and that's probably because of the lack of explanation of the actual importance of Mushis and explaining their existence clearly enough as well the whole dream concept. I like the whole concept of dream and how the Mushis are eating them but as soon as one of the original 3 showed up is where the confusion began for me and the ending made less sense. also another thing that i totally did not appreciate is the lack of explnanation as to what the ESBN is trying to do or at least the lack of emphasis on their motive. because if you accidentally missed it, the ESBN is just a bunch of bad guys shooting down Mushis and that's it. i'm going to have to blame the low scores seen on bad directing :( but overall i liked it and it had a very dreamy feel to it ;)

.... lack of explanation

Yeah not all unknowns were explained which is probably because of 3 main reasons > Novel is still publishing, they probably planned sequel and this anime had only 12 episodes and that was hardly enough for so many things to be uncovered indeed. I think that many things were hinted but not clearly unmistakably explained.

If i remember correctly ESBN was kinda inconsistent and many its members followed their own motives, those motives were held secret to us due to possibility of sequel or maybe because it wasn't published in Novel yet but mainly because there were only 12 episodes. And I bet that not all important ESBN members had chance to apear in anime.
(My thoughts > i had feeling that there might something with both groups like it was in Angles beats, those who seemed to be evil might have been actually trying to do something good and those who were shown as the good guys might have been unknowingly fighting against this good thing, else our main protagonist would be a antagonist)

true is that this needs sequel and Because Novel is still publishing there'll hardly be any final conclusion included unless anime takes it's own path.
Even though i still liked this anime to rate it 8/10
