There's another season with 13 ep
the anime have 26 ep but it's just split in half to make it easy for the production team + fix stuffs that people complain about in season 1.

I haven't heard about second cour anywhere. I'd like to have a source (source in moon runes is fine)

Not really being overtly skeptical, just surprised. I'm pretty sure by next fall Satelight and Kawamori should be busy with 30th Macross Anniversary related production(s) like the upcoming Fire Bomber OVA

Yeah I was wondering that as well becasue of how the story drags on and how the girls all want to be promoted. I've already finished episode 9 and I felt like it should be much longer, maybe 30 episodes. But if what you say is true, then I'm happy that there's gonna be a second season :) I think I like the J-pop band too!

I was suprised to see only 13 episodes lenght as well, the story doesn't seem to progress fast enough for that, i was sure it'd be 24 at least. I hope for some official notice of 2nd season.

I guess they took the risk and hoped AKB name guarantees big enough sales for that. Now I'm not so sure...

I really hope we get a second season, imo there's no way they can wrap up the story properly without more episodes.

Despite being..
1. hated by anime otakus who wanted the show to fail since first ep.
2. being air on small station
3. only have members that don't have alot of fans, except for Watanabe Mayu, and also most idol fans probably aren't that interested in anime.

The anime sold well and is 3rd seller this season.
Of course I'm not used to seeing AKB selling in 4 digit number..I mean their singles sell 1 million copies on the first day and even their Seibu Dome concert box which was $200 sold over 100k...so in term of it being AKB, the sales are horrible, in term of it compare to other animes, it's a hit.

It's only 500 copies away from the season favorite, Hyoka. And according to this explanation of sales number, around 7000 is considered favorite and the hit of the season and already guarantee 2nd season.

....The only problem is...AKB girls are too busy. I doubt they can make a 2nd season in time for Fall. Watanabe Mayu who voice Chieri is releasing 2nd single Otona Jelly Bean soon, AKB finally have their dream come true by having a Tokyo Dome concert, which is high priority since the dome is a prestigious place for J-artists, Maeda Atsuko's graduation the day after, their 27th single release, and their 4th album all in August. Also there's members in SKE and NMB who are in the anime too who also have activities and releases soon....

The fastest we can get another season would probably in Winter or Spring at least :/ Which is probably why they already finished recording the 1st cour since they didn't have enough time to make a 26 ep show all at once.

Only one episode left. Oh, please God, second season. Episode 12 was so good, but there's so much more story left:
- who is SSSS
- Chieri's father
- the reason for anti-entertainment
- Takamina's retirement
- who is Mimori going to inherit?
- what are the Kirara?
- MANY OTHER THINGS

Basing that the questions raised in the 12 episode, I pretty sure that this wil lreceive another season.

and isn't it obvious that SSSS is Yasushi Akimoto, since he's also the lyricist besides being the creator of AKB48

Pretty much. And AkiP is a VP at Kyoto art university so his title is sensei.
He's pretty well known too so most Japanese people would get it without the production team even revealing him.

I know there's people that aren't interested in the real group but google them can help give some background infos lol.

Until an announcement is made officially, any fan speculation is pointless. Especially when they never said anything about this:

Well, it's official now- (Not the number of eps, just that there is another season.)
Personally I want each season of AKB to have 13 episodes.

Reason doesn't matter, but if anyone's curious enough.... my reason for that is in the spoiler below:

Aside from the whole thing "Feeling" like it was setting up for a second season, they have now made an official statement at the end of the 13th episode, after the credits- (Pointing this out because I'm not sure how many people pay attention to the after the credits part).
