| Whereas I found last chapter smooth and believable my friend pointed out that pushing the bar with everyone crowding around is just stupid, or perhaps unbelievable is a better word. I argued back and said to jump or crouch makes yourself very vulnerable and if no one does it first, like we can see with Kurosawa's main unit now, to be the only one to do it is scary. For you will certainly suffer. To do such a thing requires faith in your allies and morale to be willing to suffer for your allies. But they responded quite well by telling me no, the guy who kills Kurosawa gets 1 million yen and they are kinda crazed right now. From that it seems weird for them to not rush inside anyway they could, rather waiting until the barbell was lit. Pushing the barbell anyways puts them in a position to get punched or poked and it's not particularly safe in itself so along with the 1 million yen comment I ended up agreeing. I think it was still possible that the first guys still were frozen with fear to go alone like I suggested(guy at the front was the one beaten by Kurosawa earlier) and the rest followed but it made me curious if Kurosawa had a plan if they rushed in to begin with by crouching or jumping. Doing some quick math 4 guys could climb over/crouch under at once, and Kurosawa had two guys with sticks guarding the ones holding the barbell so perhaps it's plausible that the two could likely keep everyone out until it was lit, notably one was the demon Nakane and we saw him do work this chapter! I suppose this isn't an overall criticism as things do seem to add up to me but I would have really liked to see a few of them try and rush in instead of pushing each others backs... but this is largely a comedy so maybe this is reading into it too much. Perhaps that behavior was mostly for laughs! Anyways, seeing the wheel of fire rush towards them was great, that one thug was lucky to have a hat! Then we had that montage of awesome ass-kickery with a special shoutout to Nakane! That was two super intelligent first moves if you ask me, to strike fear into the leaders heart and then do what Kurosawa does best, show his opponents they don't have the conviction to deal with him with, in this case with that fire! What followed was fearful men losing the will to fight being forced to back up on a staircase as the vanguard unit took them out as easy as pie. Now that was satisfying I do admit. And what's heartbreaking is that the narrator confirmed that if the main unit had the strength to fight they would have won. In fact if one of them did I bet the others would have followed... Now this is looking bad. 8 versus 50(49 if Miki really ran) and the rest of them too scared to move. Did Kurosawa account for this at all... Well, if the volume cover says anything it's that this won't be good. |
