| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- It's not boring like the first two episodes, but it is kind of odd. It brings back both Zophie, from the best 3/4 of an episode VOTOMS ever produced, and the Martial Church, from the worst title in the series. It doesn't really develop the conflict surrounding Zophie, though. It doesn't get into issues of guilt or responsibility. If Chirico deliberately came to Zophie to help her out to pay penance for the atrocities he committed in the military, I'd like to get a little more on that subject. All we really have here is his weird refusal to use an AT on Sunsa, although that didn't stop him in the TV series. Again, if Fyana's death in Shining Heresy means that Chirico is re-examining his life, I'd like it if I could tell that's what's going on at least get some sense that he's living his life in a different way. As it is, he's just the same old silent cipher he too often is. |
| So, we finally get to see Chirico! Zophie is still alive, although her vision is not well. Now that she's discovered that it was Chirico that was staying with her, she's too old to want to try to kill him again, and she's willing to leave the past in the past. Quentian floaters appear to have teleported everyone someplace else. |
