| Ultra Maniac is surely a magical girl anime for the modern age. They integrated magic and technology for casual usage, and the show seems oddly flippant in using magic publically, despite the usual warnings of keeping muggles in ignorance. If anything, the show feels like a mid-90s sitcom, contextually dating itself with its conduct and unabashedly straightforward introduction to its world, characters, and character relationships. |
| Just watched the first episode, I can't be the only one who thinks Sakura Nina looks, dresses and acts exactly like Sakura Kinomoto, even down to having the same name and being magical. Even the style of the show feels like it was made by Clamp. That can't be a coincidence. |
