Haha, great ending. Completely ridiculous but loved it. I especially loved the montage of characters being recalled from their jobs. The navigator was bald the whole time!? Lol.

For a moment I was thinking this is going to be very sad ending, but then... You've seen it by yourself. Whole crew got back together. Very good ending.

And that cat on the doctor's table? Couldn't stop laughing. Again :)

so what was wrong with the Aso? I assume it had to be a trap of some sort with those two pushing it so hard, but if not, then I wonder why they didn't take it? I'd think the crew of the Soyokaze would be more important than the ship itself, especially with how quickly the systems failed in battle situations.

with the war being over the military won't have much to do other than track them down and destroy them, hope he realizes that and runs to Empire, hopefully without restarting the war ; )

wish the ending hadn't been quite so open : (

God that was awful. Easily one of the worst anime endings of all time. The last three episodes were just horrible in general.

I assume it would be because they can then get away with anything, being a basically useless combat ship anyways. There wouldn't be a need for following frequent orders or being a backbone...they could just...be.

Dunno what you were watching, but it was brilliant. The entire show is a parody of the Space Opera genre. The fact that they were running the show this way should be of no surprise. The show isn't designed to be taken seriously and it basically lets you know it once again. Expecting much different would be equivalent of going into the Mazinger franchise and not expecting Kouji to survive.

Honestly, it's either this or Nadesico's "inevitable sequel" crack that really have the best endings.

I keep forgetting that whenever space battles occur in this series. XD

Ah well it was ridiculous most of the time but I still enjoyed it even though I kept criticizing and speculating about the space battles. Episode 23: The Longest Day in Space was the best for me!

Pretty good series, the ending was light-hearted and memorable.

I wasn't a big fan of the early episodes, but it grew on me, just as Tylor grew on his crewmates.

that few seconds was the highlight of this episode and easily one of the biggest surprises of the entire series.

Sigh...I was expecting a little more in the ending, particularly after The Longest Day and Admiral's funeral episodes. In the end we had no romantic resolutions, and no real direction for the crew to take their obsolete destroyer. After showing us an angst-ridden Tylor over the final three episodes he suddenly appears in the captain's chair? Really? Maybe the art form has gotten a little more sophisticated over the 20 years since this was made, or maybe I had too high an expectation for what was essentially a shounen SF battle parody, but in the end I felt a little cheated by this ending. Still an 8 based on what happened up until this episode, but it could have been higher.

The Hungarian Dance No. 5 was used at such a correct time. Despite being predictable, it was still unexpected and uncalled for when Tylor suddenly appeared behind Yamamoto's back. Go Soyokaze!!!

O.O =§ Buhu...Buhahahahahahahahahaaa HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa!!!!

Damn Good Final Episode of this Great Series!!!! Some Ruriko Tylor moment, drama, and Most Hilarious Ending and Reactions....

Laughed when i saw what were Soyokaze Crews "things they want to do" when they left. BUt that Rebellion scene, (hey they stole ship and both left with out permission and ruined The Moment, that is rebellion in eyes of the admirals.) Tough looks like Mifune is slowly acknowledging that Military maybe need Tylor. and looks likes Yurikos stories and Tylors action has gotten him some fans in military...or what would you call that lieutenants want to meet Irresponsible Captain? XD

Yamamotos actions in ship,And Tylors style made me laugh really hard. Tough I competently Broke when I saw Dom's Reaction of Empress Order....And the way Shia Has Reacted when Dom passed it to her...Looks like either of them want to be anywhere near Tylor anytime soon!!!! XDXDXDXD Serious Dom... Usually competently Serious face broke immediately.

Music in this episode, like in past few was awesome and fitted perfectly to this

I'm not entirely satisfied by the non-romantic conclusion of it. Aside that, the ending was quite hilarious, it's of course a parody of the Space Opera Genre, you have not really to take it seriously. (Even through the funeral-thing was pretty dramatic)

I lol'd at Dom and at the bald navigator.

I found it satisfying, as much as I liked Nedesico I ultimately preferred this show, wouldn't have thought they would continue it with OVAs, let alone anything... I may have to check out the manga also...

I absolutely agree, This ending haunts me along with Green Green as one of the worst all time ends.

For majority of the entire anime Taylor is away from his crew and is develeping relationship with Lyn. Focus is really Taylor/Lyn character develepment. So in the last episode they basically "Lol, screw all the develepment we spent 20 episodes working on. Lets throw it all away!" And that what they do. Lyn disappears and hes back in love with Yuriko.

Almost surely the best episode of the show.

A fantastic send-off with the bumped-up animation and orchestral marathon topping the show up with a wonderful bombastic charge from melancholy ceremony to irreverent funfair. Brahm's Dance as the crew was summoned was absolutely perfect, calling to mind the climatic confrontation's similarly wonderful classical choice. I think between those few moments and the OP/ED, the music staff did a great job. Tylor singing his rendition of the ending at the Admiral's funeral was also another similarly great moment.

While the animation wasn't a big highlight, I think the character expressions were done particularly well, with some godly grins from Tylor especially. This episode however highlighted just how much more engaging a show can be when animators are able to up the detail - the lighting, the expressiveness, and liveliness all played into making the finale that much more wonderfully energetic and enjoyable.

The series as a whole was rather inconsistent and had a wobbly start, but when the right strokes were struck they were truly lovely and a sure smile.

This series was absolutely ridiculous and almost nothing made sense about that military's chain of command, but god damn did this series have charm.

A ludicrous yet awesome ending like this need not pop often, that way endings like these are all the more special. Talk about a dramatic and crazy restart. I'm sure the Raalgon guys (Shia, Azalyn, and especially Dom) went crazy with what happened. Dom freakin' rage quit. Man, you strung us along, eh Tylor?

Also, those glasses make Tylor look way more cooler than he deserves. Bloddy Lucky Bastard. :)

This was a good series and definitely a good way to spend the last two days.

P.S.
Katori being bald made me crack up. XD

And seriously, is that a fucking tomato or what?! it's been 26 episodes and i still can't see it as anything but.

Great end episode, to think this all started because Tylor wanted a easy job. I'm pretty sure at this point in time, Tylor's recruiter must feel damn proud for making the decision to accept him

From an old series, I never expected it to be so good. Even though the visuals are dated (for a 30 year old anime), the comedy and characters really made up for it, you gotta love the accidental genius Tylor and his weird antics and the wide variety of crew members

I don't get it either. The only good part of the last 3 episodes is the few minutes of alone time between Yuriko and Tylor.

The first two episodes of the OVA would make a much better ending for this series.

A comfy classic, I loved the cast and just the all around vibe

uhhhh, the war was still very much a thing, that final battle was more of a metaphoric or symbolic victory, meant to show that there were other options then fighting, giving a new hope to the future of possibilities, or im completely wrong, either way

That was the best of endings. For a show that was going downhill for me during the time Tylor was on the raalgon ship, it ended up being a solid 7 for me. Despite its dated visuals, it was a funny and easy watch. I couldn't warm up to Azalyn, an annoying brat until the very end, although I admit the way her people and Tylor's managed the final battle was sublime. In the end I'm still really reaaaally glad she went back to her people and the focus went to Tylor and Yuriko.

Azalyn was one thing, but I thought all the characters were hilarious. Seems like the trademark of Soyokaze was being an idiot, except maybe Yuriko. But it's not a bad thing in my book, I had a good amount of laughs in many of the episodes. The fact that this blonde navigator guy was actually bald???! It made me crack tf up. I wasn't expecting it at all haha.

I've been wanting to watch this show fully for years, since I watched some of it as a kid, I'm real happy I got to finish it. Nice oldie, if so a bit too stupid sometimes, goes a bit downhill in the middle and picks back up near the end, but overall a fun watch.
