| Well i originally thought this episode was going to be about a ace and luffy's past. It was cool that it started out that way, but then it just went instant recaps for the whole episode. Still its kind of cool to see the entire plot involving blackbeard's betrayal of the Whitebeard pirates and ace trying to get his revenge for killing thatch. Even if all this was explained already. Its kind of neat that they jam packed some of the best moments of OP into one single episode. Next episode seems interesting. |

| Yeah, this puts in perspective how damn long the Blackbeard/Ace/Whitebeard subplot has been going on. I mean, think about it, the pieces were coming together as early as the Alabasta arc over 300 episodes ago..that's pretty cool in my book. |

| For me this was refreshing.. a much needed recap after 456 episodes after since its started.. Since I've only been watching one piece nearly under 1 year now.. its been brilliant from the start.. just goes to show how the complexity of the one piece universe is and how Oda is a genius haha.. I'm not in any rush to see the Marineford HQ.. just savoring every minute because once I reach the current episode then I'll be viewing it once a week :-( |

| I actually like recap episodes like this. Say what you will, we didn't need to see Bellamy's boys beat them up all we needed to see was Nami pull Luffy and Zoro outside, nor did we need to see that much of Ace vs Blackbeard. Yet, everything else was awesome for me at least. It explored Luffy and Ace's love as brothers and their past together, we learned that Ace left three years before Luffy and he didn't see him again until Alabasta... And we got to see all of the story elements that led to this ever since possibly before episode 100 all the way to where we are now. It nicely reminds us of how things came to be and in an anime this long which paces this storyline so slowly it can be forgotten. I watched this concisely put together recap super intently for that reason, it's cool to see a 300 episode storyline all at once. In fact I also liked the fact that we got to see the Bellamy beat down because it reminded me of how almost childishly Luffy tried to be like Shanks in that moment, and how even before when Zoro may not have given up his life and ambition for Luffy he still would go through such extents out of duty and respect for him. Plus seeing the "THIS PIE IS GOOD/BAD", "YOU BASTARD, YOU WANT TO FIGHT?!", "WHY ARE YOU TWO FIGHTING?!" again before that made me laugh really hard. I find the funny and eccentric introduction of Blackbeard quite interesting when we contrast that to his role in the story now. Plus I just love that Ace vs Blackbeard fight. Over the top as if it is showing us that we haven't seen anything yet, it's so epic and exciting and fun. Stuff like Blackbeard and Ace both getting so hurt so quickly, moments like Ace realizing before the first blow even comes that something's wrong, Ace quickly reacting to vortex with an attack as he flies but Blackbeard swinging and catching him going by anyways. And of course moments like Ace's absurdly cool "If I yield to power than there's no point in being born a man, I never leave anything to be regretted in my life. Do you understand that, baka?", hehehe. It's a shame he's come to regret something, letting Luffy get in this much danger to save him and hurting his second dad Whitebeard in this way too. Two side notes about Teech, I love that we saw his beard grow over this journey, we really got to see him live up to his name! lol.. Also, he gives the line that he will be the world's strongest man with his devil fruit. He has this fascination with what seems like power and that may be part of why he wants to become the pirate king. Recall Rayleigh's conversation with Luffy. Luffy doesn't want power, he wants freedom. "I don't want to rule, the king of pirates is the man who's the most free." This seems to be another contrast between these two similar ambition-filled men! |
| This was pretty much a recap of how Blackbeard essentially started a war for turning Ace in after everything he's done. The events of these episodes are still fairly fresh in memory but I didn't mind having to watch it again. I'm so excited! |

| I actually really enjoyed the recap.. it’s a helpful refresher of some of the most important moments with Ace and Blackbeard which happened god knows how many episodes ago. It puts the scale of this amazing story into perspective. |
