It's based off a book called 'Anne of Green Gables' But maybe they took inspiration I didn't see it myself..

There’s always a chance, and it’s an interesting connection I didn’t consider. I’ve also seen a similar 3 friend group structures play out in hundreds of other shows, I think it’s just a popular archetype
