Is it true that this story has an implied tragic undertone as well?

Ya it does umaru in the anime died a long time ago umaru only exist in the brothers head the reason why we see umaru even when he is not there is because it’s him imagining it all. The reason why we see umaru turn small is because it’s a reference to her dying at a young age and herself grown up is the brothers way of imagining that she is still here. her turning small is a way of reminding him that she is not here anymore and all this is made up. Now for why she likes game and anime is all the brothers doing ( he basically made the sister he wanted from his head) as for umarus cause of death is likely illness

So, It's similar to the Pokemon theory where Ash goes into a coma after the first episode, and the entire show is a dream. That's why he doesn't age.

Yeah, totally ridiculous.

You didn't get me. I thought this is a theory made by the fandom. I find these kind of theories ridiculous.

If I recall correctly, there was something about Umaru and her brother’s parents. I don’t remember the details, but that’s the only thing I could think of. It’s a little hard to call it an undertone, since show is lighthearted most of the time, but maybe that’s what others mean when they say that. That, or the recurring struggle of Umaru feeling the need to push away different aspects of herself depending on the people she’s around.

Unless others find Umaru’s personality and hobbies to be tragic in general, but of course, I don’t agree with that! LOL
:D Yay
