So I tried watching is film, and I’ve seen stampede and red before, and none of them impressed me. Is it just that the films are not good because I’m worried if the anime will be like this (I’m reading the manga rn)
Edit: I saw Z, I liked it.

Red felt like a record company promotional deal (but I liked it because it had nice colors and explosions, I'm easy to please) and Stampede was a mediocre fan service anniversary special given more budget than usual.
I thought Z, Gold and Strong World were pretty good though.
As for the TV anime, it's the same as the manga but with extra stuff so they can keep up with it. Sometimes the additions are decent but other times they really drag the pacing down. They used to do filler arcs but stopped 200 episodes in when they figured out the art of adapting less than a manga chapter each episode.

Does the pacing get better in egghead? cause that’s when I’m switching to the anime.

Most one piece movies I watched were underwhelming. Strong world was okay but that one was actually written by Oda.

personally, I haven't been fond of any of the one piece films I've seen.

z, gold, attempted strong world twice as well as stampede. 3D2Y was alright.

not sure what it is about them. maybe since they're not Canon and have no bearing on the story, they're not as enjoyable?

Two films I highly recommend watching are Strong World (has some canon elements like Shiki and the doctor, also written by Oda), as well as Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island. Baron Omatsuri is particularly incredible with both its story and animation, unlike anything seen in the other movies. Just be warned that it's an incredibly dark film dealing with themes of grief and death that even Oda himself never delves so deep into. The imagery in this film still haunts me to this day, and I've never been able to rewatch and go through it again.

Other than these two films, no other films have impressed me. More modern films like Z and Stampede definitely have the fanservice factor way more turned up to the max compared to earlier films which can be enjoyable in its own right.

Stampede wasn’t that good. 80% of the movie is just Luffy and friends fighting the big bad. There’s also too many characters and so majority of them had to be put on the backburner.

Overall it had potential but flopped.
If I had to choose between One Piece and a girlfriend...I think I'll go with One Piece

I felt like stampede and film red were the really really good ones and the rest were kind of underwhelming but then again I'm just really happy with the fan service of them putting in a bunch of characters I love and seeing how they interact with each other also ados voice is incredible
