This is all spoiler. You have been warned.

I watched S2F2 and decided to simply catch up with the whole manwha for some reason. And I have to say I am kinda underwhelmed ?

yeah I agree. I loved it until like ch 120 odd . but after the monarch , rulers etc were introduced the story kinda became really uninteresting since literally every other character became useless and were there just to hype him up.

me too when they brought time reversal then it dropped off from its peak, it went on and become Hollywood sci fi time travel stuff, and also they did not cleared all his precious life characters also " one where cha hei in mention's abt her visions " ,
if they haven't broughten tht time travel or time Reversal it could have been "peak fiction", from my perspective .
and another point of view it also feels peak cuz of "Again Solo Leveling" frm start, aftr time reversal thts y i liked this concept too much tht was mind blowing to me .

still i don't like time travel concepts, it's just a fantasy type of theme or just a feeling when something bad hppns or you are fond of your memories u say " can't the time changes back as old days or cnt i go n change the things around me as per your feeling ".

after they announced this trope i immediate knew that no matter what happens he will win, as i said multiple times, its the art that carries the story, since the story is under performance. bad english, Sorry.

kinda how I felt from chapter 160-201 (or whenever it ends) Too many characters and not enough time to give me enough to actually care why they exist lmao.

yes, a very bad ending, the author wanted to make a catastrophic ending, but he didn't want a bad ending, so he uses a deus ex machina to solve everything, it's the worst of all, time travel, in a story that never had anything about it.

I didn’t realize how much ppl disliked the last third of the story! I guess I did prefer it before it tried overcomplicating and pulling in time travel and stuff like that. I enjoyed the whole thing though, I don’t have any problems with it.

I am kind of glad to see the responses as I started to question what I missed, looking at the rating.
But I think I do know why. To borrow the observation from Diomar: The start is so strong and everything until at least after the Jeju Island arc is really good. You get invested, otherwise I wouldn't have read the whole damn thing. But for that reason I felt so sad to see that later part of the story. It felt like nothing mattered anymore and all the careful character and world building, tension buildup and underdog story from the start just got stomped for sake of giving a conclusion and providing a reason for it all.

The method of time travel, Gods and multiple dimensions to solve the puzzle of why this world functions as it does and how you fix it is weirdly repetitive. While breaking at least for me the whole magic of the show.

Total Spoiler for Kumo desu ga LN!:
.

I'm not mad or angry, just sad and confused about how it turned out.

unpopular opinion, i preferred the last third up until time travel. like the "this never happened btw" part is complete bullshit. But other than that the deep lore about everything, i really liked it even tho i struggled to understand everything

Yeah that is something I personally also don't like in stories. Technically it may be a way to eliminate the problem - but it's such a big tradeoff I just dislike.

I had a blast reading through the whole thing, as it was fun to see Jin-woo be a complete badass.

That being said, analyzing the story critically leaves me seriously wanting. So I view a story like this essentially as junk food. It was fun and I'll remember it fondly, but it wasn't the most stimulating piece of media.

Still not sure what to think after they basically reset it back to the way it was in the sequel,

But then again the characters did get to have normal lives for like 40 years I guess

The only good part of the story comes from the epilogue with Jin Woo and his family

First of all, there is no multiple timelines madness in Solo Leveling.
Yes. The time is reset back. But that does not mean multiple universes are created. It means that time resets back to start and that's it.
Even the Rulers state that the Monarchs are starting to feel the time is being reset, but they are not aware of what has happened in the previous cycles.

Second, the background about an asshole god creating a whole universe to entertain his perverse desires to see chaos and suffering is awesome.
The conflict it breeds between the Rulers and the turmoil that the Shadow Ruler goes through, which turns him into a Monarch is genius.
It feels like someone read some french philosophers (god is dead, humanity killed him / life has no deeper meaning) and jived to that tune.

The powers are limited because they powers are limited.
The Rulers start infusing the world with power in an attempt to give it a survival chance against the Monarch invasion, and some people resonate with that energy, gaining power, some clash, and go into the sleep, and most do not react to it.
Unlike Jinwoo, the rest of humanity is not receiving a constant influx of power. It ia the world the one that gets "strengthened" with that energy.
Jinwoo grows in power because the System keeps taking power and injecting it into him so that he can withstand the power of the Shadow Monarch.
It is a videogame device, but one that has its justification in story.

I really enjoyed the Monarchs and the Rulers backstory though I do wish that the ending was handled differently than resetting time for everyone. I was not a huge fan of the epilogue it just did not have the same punch as everything that came before it.

all the bad comments i see here man.... Like the story is utter trash. You guys think that you can do it better? Like some jugdes who think they know all sh*t. The story was a masterpiece, which also opened the leveling System to other authors, which inspired them. Really cant comprehend why some have to always critice something everthing as bad when there is only a small (mistake, bad thing) when everthing else is good?

@Panda-01 don’t worry, obviously the majority of people don’t feel the same way or else the score wouldn’t be so high. There’s always going to be haters, and even more so now after the popularity since the release of the anime. Some people just have a knack of being extra critical of things just for the sake of going against the grain.

the author wasn't ambitious with the show, he didn't even attempt to do simple shi like develop characters or add sub plots or make it deep in any way. So when the monarchs part comes along the show shows it's flaws as no one can fight besides the MC and the villians are unhyped/ newly introduced. it isn't small things it's basically most things

Does this make it a bad story? yh but it's good for ppl who wanna relax their brain. Plus when u read enough manhua and pan back to this show it can be seen as lazy writing.

to recap: Generic MC that farms aura, generic plot (author should have made it more dynamic by focusing on more than one character), terrible side cast (they're only there to help him aura farm). no subplots (bro couldn't even write up a generic love story 😭😭). main villians have NO hype. Amazing fights nd artsyle.

Don't know why you are fighting over this. This is just about my subjective feeling of how this whole thing started and what it then became. I would have probably been fine with never revealing what the system is or why the portals exist. And in exchange getting some more side char lore etc - instead of what feels like a frantic attempt to resolve all the mysteries and deliver a conclusion to the main story.
