since it's original it's unknown what's in the end this anime about. but there is a big issue here: in episode 3 mc accepted big help from kind people knowing he's gonna die soon, and for me it's really hard and irrelevant to enjoy looking at him learning fishing and bonding with likable fun characters, having a good time and getting that false hope. he knows if he's gonna make bonds with other people in the end he's gonna hurt them and it's gonna hurt him too, he's being selfish here which is understandable, i think this is gonna be covered in later episodes.

no guarantee he's gonna die, they can always pull something random like the radiologist had the wrong scan or something.

I mean, you don't have to give up on living just because you're going to die soon. Anyone can die at any time, that's not a good reason to avoid building new friendships and enjoying life
y u mad tho

I hope they don't do that. this show will be a lot better if he is with them till the end and the series ends on a very emotional Mc death

@YadisBatman That's my guess too. At least for now. I mean it's been done many times. Won't be surprising if it happens again.

I doubt he will die, I don't think it's that kinda show.

Your wording makes it seem like you are saying 'people with terminal illness, who know they will die soon, shouldn't make new friends or try new interests or get help from anyone, because they soon will be dead anyway'. And that's kinda... you know... ':// Kinda not it.

I think this is exactly the point - to make the best of the moments you have left before it's time for you to go. He should be expiriencing all that his life still has to offer, rather than just locking himself up at his house to wait for his end alone doing nothing.

I agree with your point, but how is standing by a river with a stick and some string making the most of his remaining time? And also, after getting bailed out of debt and given a home, maybe he could confide in his new friends so his eventual declining health doesn’t come as a shock to them.

For every single person 'doing the most of their remaining life' is gonna look different. Some will go into wilderness or go bungee jumping to get an adventure of their life and some will just hang out with friends, read a book etc. There is +8 billion people on this earth, we can't all act and think the same!

And since it's only third ep out (i'm not even caught up tbh dhkshd), i'm sure that he will eventually open up to them! Let's give the plot some time to unravel!

@SamuelPapprill Plot twist, he dies in episode 12, and episode 1 of next season it turns into an Isekai "Level 1: Fishing in another world"

@Ambeon it better not, I'm pretty burned out on isekai. I only watch the big ones, this show is good but not good enough for that

As someone who’s a cancer survivor and it was caught early, there were still times where I thought I could die. I thought about how I would want my remains handled, what would happen to my stuff, and it caused anxiety because the surgery I had also could’ve killed me. Despite that, I kept living, working, trying new things, and I survived.

Now things are different for our MC here, he was told it’s definitely gonna kill him. I don’t think it’s selfish. I was in a situation where i was dependent on family for everything, and felt guilty about it, as I think he is on his friends since he insisted. However, we know it’s still weighing on his consciousness, and who knows, maybe he’ll survive somehow
