To be fair, Ririsa understands a lot about cosplay so her criticism makes sense on most parts. It looks like this episode wanted to give Aria a make over and improve her style in cosplaying.

Aria is so lucky she has friends now that cares about her work. Ririsa's reactions were priceless tbh.

Never knew how much I missed the "LILIEL!!!!!" screams until I heard them again.

Everything about Aria's indoctrination into the "deep, dark pit of otakudom" was gold but man did it make me feel way more called out than it had any right to (and skipping episodes or entire volumes when getting into something is questionable advice ngl)

Seeing the gang all watch anime together is so fun man it really takes me back to my anime club at USC 😭 miss those fellas so much. I had such a narrow view of anime till I met them, they got me into mahou shojo, idols and Type Moon. It’s such an intimate experience when someone puts you on media you truly love.

I know a gay awakening when I see one.. Nonoa was a little too into that Ririsa titty grabbing scene lmao. I really ship her with Aria, but I hate how rude she is to Aria when she’s just trying to be nice to her! Glad she at least realised how she was acting there at the end.

Did not see the twist with Aria’s dad coming. That explains why she’s so fixated on such an older series, but I wonder if her dad maybe isn’t in her life or didn’t pay her much attention so her way of trying to win his attention is becoming the thing he loves the post(his characters). Would explain why Aria acts the way she does too.

Excited for next ep!

We’re two thirds of the way through this show and we’ve only seen Mikari only a handful of times. Why is she listed as a main character?

Nonoa is quite the annoying character with her creepy gatekeeping of Ririsa. It gets old fast. Hope today was the last day they did it-

The lessons in otaku science were hilarious though. A dark path has been driven through.

On the one hand I'm glad JC Staff was too cheap/lazy to draw Nonoa's ribs this time.

On the other hand it was hard to take the discussion of their body types at any kind of value when the only noticeable difference was their height and chest size

Broooo I absolutely called that Aria would have some low effort cosplay lol, I’m kinda proud of myself for that one, but thankfully this didn’t shut her out of the cosplay world since Ririsa was very open about showing her the way she and Nonoa cosplays, and from here we basically watched anime characters watch anime for the majority of the episode, and I loved it lol, most of what they said I can heavily relate to, tho I don’t know about starting a series anywhere, it can work for more episodic series but I’d hate to pick up something like Golden Kamuy in the middle of it lol. I’m also not really into watching anime with a group, but I’m sure it’s awesome to show someone your favorite show and see their real-time reaction like they did with Aria here.

I also liked that Nonoa learned from her past mistakes and decided to give Aria a chance, she’s been on her case a lot and I get why, but I was happy to see her come around and want to know why Aria’s keeping her want to cosplay a secret, and I just nearly called it in thinking her brother was the mangaka of that cancelled manga, but it was actually her dad lol, yeah that makes more sense, if she’s cosplaying her dad’s character for him then that’s wholesome af, I love that, I’m looking forward to seeing her cosplay that Ariel character too.

Aria was indoctrinated by the otaku sect. Although it took Okumura, Lilysa, and Noa some time to introduce her to the world of anime, she finally chose a character to cosplay, since her previous cosplay wasn't good at all.

I didn't expect the thing about Aria's father, but I like it as it adds a different dimension to the dream of being a cosplayer that Lilysa and Noa have. Maybe her reason for wanting to be a famous cosplayer is to connect with her father after his manga was canceled.

This is one of my favorite episodes so far.
It's hard to reach the peaks of the Nagomi rivalry arc or the Nonoa friendship arc, but I think it's the best of the Aria transformation arc (so far).
The otaku lessons, the inside jokes, the inside jokes about inside jokes, the mention of Nakamura sakuga (probably Yutaka Nakamura), the reveal at the end, the Ririsa speech at the beginning, the interactions between Aria and the rest of the cast (especially Nonoa), even the girl talk in the changing room, they were all perfect for me!

Episodes like this one, that are mostly character interactions, are some of the most underrated ones, overshadowed by the climaxes.
But they are really the backbone of the show and the only reason the climax can be impactful.
10/10

Note: If you think about it this is basically a training montage in disguise. This is how I want my training to be!

With every additional character this show takes a big leap forward in terms of depth and atmosphere.
Otaku meeting sporty and active girl. It was really a bit overwhelming to watch 4 hours in one sitting.
The reactions to each others weirdness was hilarious, Nonoa is just extreme about being an anime fan.

Aria ended in the Liriel team, although with her appearance she could cosplay something more body focused.
But as group activity it makes more sense to be part of the same.

I don't really get what is good about Liliel story, only the character is cute, but the group is all about it now.

As a fellow otaku, this episode was amazingly hilarious lmao. Ah, the joys of shoving someone down the rabbit hole.

I was hoping Aria would end up shouting "LILIEEL!" as well eventually and she did lmao. It's really funny how close their names are to the characters they're cosplaying.

I love Nonopi so much man, such a fantastic addition to the cast. I'm sure Aria will eventually be as well. But I really want to see Mikari's reaction to all these new girls around Okumura. She's the only one missing now for the Liliel group to be complete.

That letter Okumura got can traumatize a kid understandably so. Can't believe it's actually Aria's dad though lmao, but I'm curious how his manga getting axed affected their family or the reason Aria wants to cosplay.

So this episode covers the other half of chapter 46 and stopping in the middle of chapter 48 which marks the end of Volume 6. They also also adapted parts of chapter 48.5, but I suggest you read the manga for that since its a side story. An interesting twist Aria's story with her father being a mangaka.

Nonoa didn't take kindly to the gyaru doing an "low-effort" cosplay but Ririsa's solution is to show her how they do it. The anime watching scenes where they apparently indoctrinate Aria was so relatable lol, but it is revealed she has a deeper connection to ACG as her father was a mangaka.

Regarding Aria, it made sense as to why her first cosplay was a character from an obscure series and also why she didn't want to talk about it but surprisingly Nonoa pressured Aria into explaining herself.

With Aria now part of the cosplay gang I wonder if/when Mikari will rejoin the group (I hope it's soon but by this point I thought she would've been a regular, especially before Aria joined).

Now that was some next level cosplay by Aria lol. Nonopi went through a rollercoaster of emotions this episode. Aria already went down the rabbit hole, welcome to the otaku world. Backstory incoming too.

Oh welp, Aria's free-spirited cosplay earns not just the ire of Nonoa, but Ririsa too...that's not good.

It's clear that Aria needs a lot of work integrating her into the cosplay mood, and Nonoa going on a rampage is just the most funny and embarrassing thing ever. But whatever the body figure, they'd still make good cosplay friends, thanks to Mayura-sensei's wit to convince the principal. But first, getting Aria hooked on anime and the "deep, dark pit" rabbit hole of otakudom of it as a measure of cosplay, Okumura is the master, but it's Ririsa herself who is even more terrifying.

True otaku vs. someone who's new, Aira slowly getting acquainted together with the manga club and providing her own analysis, it proves good that she wants to be part of the Liliel fandom by taking on Ariel, a character from a series that somehow got into its own controversy being a knock-off of the actual series that ended up being cancelled (or rather, axed). Nonoa almost getting on her usual personality trap against Aria, tries to hear her out, which is for the better...

...and truly, hearing that Valkyrie Battle is REALLY a family affair with Aria's father being the mangaka for it, that's quite the shock.
