I've been seeing a lot of posts on about how they changed a lot of the stuff when adapting the manga into anime (mainly the interactions between Sakura and Naruto) and wondered whether it'd be worth it to read the manga. I watched the anime about 5 years ago so I already know the main plot points but if the story is simply told better, i'd happily read a story i've already seen.

The manga is better just for the fact that it don't have 40% of fillers like the anime making more easy to digest. The removal of fillers help the pacing but in both cases the 4th war is atrocious its just more palatable in the manga.

Manga has better pacing, meaning no filler episodes and no flashbacks of scenes we already seen 10 times. The anime shows flashbacks of entire scenes to stretch the episodes, which can get very annoying. However, the anime has better and improved fight scenes and episodes like 82, 166/167, 478 of Shippuden have god tier direction that expands on the manga content.

As for the changed interactions, the anime made Sakura look more useless and obsessed with Sasuke than she actually is, by giving her extra lines about Sasuke that were never in the manga or not animating scenes were she helps Naruto in their fight etc.

The manga completely and awkwardly changes the Hidan and Kakuzu arc by removing Shikamaru smoking entirely and replacing it with him having the lighter. The entire arc is executed way better in the manga besides the extended fight scene with Kakashi. There are awkward filler scenes that clash with the canon as well, such as Choji and Shikamaru being depicted as Naruto’s friends as a child, and Hiruzen coldly giving Kid Naruto allowance, then leaving. Sakura is also depicted better with many of her annoying moments being added or exacerbated in the anime. The storytelling in general is much better in the manga.

Outside of that there is much more censorship especially in og Naruto, and of course the absurd amount of filler that plagues both series. The pacing is also much worse especially in the early seasons because they were trying to stretch manga content to not catch up too quickly. The flip side to everything is that the anime has great animation in some key fight scenes as well as great music. This alone is enough for most people to choose the anime because it’s just easier to consume and enjoy. If you’ve already watched the anime I highly suggest the manga as it is the definitive version of the story, and just a different experience in general.

Manga is better but at the start u might not like it cuz it has a bit of a diff art style for a few chapters but the art gets better, plus u can find all 700 chaps colored. So if u dont wanna deal with the shitty animation and filler and story changes/cuts go with the manga

The manga is the source material so yeah by default it's better. The Shippuden anime in general is a horrible adaptation, what with the constant flashbacks, dragged out scenes, filler scenes in pretty much every episode, and the filler arcs themselves.
