After watching ep 11 I had this question in mind but I thought maybe ep 12 would answer it but it increased my confusion. Why was Atri needed to run Eden? Because of her AI? or because of her emotions? If it was her AI then why the granny did not make a dedicated AI to run Eden because her hologram which showed in ep 11 was enough proof to show that AI was more than enough advanced and capable to handle an Island, then why only Atri was chosen for this. I understand Atri was available to Granny when she was working on this project, but what would have happened if Natsuki had never found Atri in the first place?

Also, I am pretty sure the other Eden Islands were running without any humanoids. This ending was also good but I was hoping for them to meet in real life not in data form. Anyways, do you have any theories about why she chose Atri as the brain of Eden?

If Atri got used as the administrator for Eden, then they wouldn’t be able to recall her. She’d be physically locked away underground, and her AI would still exist to manage the facility, so her personality wouldn’t disappear. Nonko just didn’t get the opportunity to do this before the sea level rose.

While the risk of her being recalled was no more, Atri wouldn’t have survived without becoming the administrator since her original capsule ran out of battery. So she went into the capsule on Eden to keep her memories.

I think you have to look at it through the lens of the story the writers wanted to tell. My guess is that maybe the authors wanted to portray a tragic love situation like in the separation of two star-crossed lovers, but with technological elements. maybe the authors wanted to tell the story of how love is a better hope for humanity than technology and how one plays with the other, which is portrayed in Atris' nature as a feeling robot...which also plays with the mc's disability, maybe how he also feels and his past trauma.
