“Dandadan” theories?

With the release of the most recent chapter of Dandadan a few weeks ago we got introduced to idea of “Dandadan” as a concept, thanks to CSG. I can’t speak for everyone but I honestly never gave much thought to the name. I had looked it up once and didn’t find anything immediately, so like the goldfish-attention-span human I am I just gave up on it right there. Now we know that there is (at least a little) plot significance related to the manga’s namesake. Question is, what is it?

It’s a helluva cliffhanger to begin what is currently a 1-month hiatus, but the reasoning behind the hiatus as some of you may know, is for Tatsu-sensei to do some research. Based on the last chapter there is seemingly some Buddhist (?) significance to the name. For me it’s hard to say.

That being said, feel free to use this post as a place to let out your theories! This manga has very little discussions outside of the typical chapter discussions and ratings which boggles my mind. What do you all think “Dandadan” really is?

Dandadan means sound of frightened heartbeats and related that with the unexpected encounters. And I still wanna believe that Tatsu going with that concept and hopefully he don't anything too much out of the box.

So it's an onomatopoeia, then? That actually makes sense to me tbf. But, I'm not 100% sold, it could mean something else.

I will be really surprised if this is related at all, but just for laughs,

"balls", as in testicles, in chinese is pronounced "dandan"

we have about 200 ways to refer to it, but the most common way we refer to it as is "dandan"
