So, I've heard that the team behind 86 are now currently working on NieR Automata and the part 2 of NieR which is airing this season will be the finale according to the gamers. So they will start the production of 86 from next season when NieR is finished unless a1 pick up a new project for them.

As much as I love the S1 of 86, I kinda want it to be discontinued there. Because the ending is just so peak, I have no desire to wish for another season. Maybe if I had read the LN, I'd think otherwise.

nah in my view as anime only follower 86 got pretty much conclusive ending and A1 never commits to complete full adaption instead they opt to explore different shows ..

well I take it as a bonus if I get a sequel for 86 anyways only time can tell..

A-1 definitely did a great job at adapting the ending for part 2 so that you "think" the story has finally came to an end.

I think people (including myself) want to see more of Lena in the forefront since she was relegated a bit in Part II until the end. Want to see her relationship with Shin and the rest of the crew blossom and how it fits into the ongoing uneasy relationship between the 86s and the broken San Magnolia. And more battles, of course.

a1 is literally almost at mappa's timing these days so i dont think u can count on that fact alone for a new adaptation. they do what they like. plus novel adaptations take way longer than manga

I don't exactly remember how everything happens and in what order but I guess separating by nations would be the best thing to do.

Even knowing that as 86 progresses it only go deeper into internal conflict with volume 12 showing the mutinery and the opinions that could arise on the use of nuclear weapons and volume 11 taking the Republic's citizens into the Federacy.

Starting from a philosophical criticism of racism and nationalism 86 might end with a political war and the milestones that would be required to set it up with a proper storytelling would be different than if you want to make an anime about war. Leading the anime to end and start seasons with different volumes as well
