Not sure if this is a leak but I have just come across episode 5 on one of the free sites (only found it on one site so far).
It was a nice episode especially with the action with the guard captain.

The flip was going on in that dungeon with clearly censored...you know lol

Then a English speaking Dungeon torturer clearly speaking explicit language
"You can't spell slaughter without laughter".

Subs censoring the term "Torture room", a literal box full of dildos, a bizarre, out-of-place, almost-English-speaking guard monster, and redundant English subs that still somehow manage to be wrong, and MC acting like this was all some unintended bug. Yeah, I'm one more bad episode away from dropping this.

There are no words to describe that last scene lmao

Seeing Nikola wave those dildos things around like magic wands was too funny. Someone on the dev team is definitely pulling some kind of prank; there's no way any of those things were just a bug

So we really got left off on a cliff hanger in a t*rtur£ p*rn room? I was enjoying questioning the long plot of this show, but so quickly nuking the intentions of the developers with full on se× toys is a wild choice.

Nikola found some nice magic wands.

That monster speaks surprisingly good English.

this show always has me asking a question about the game world then explaining it the next episode lol. Seems only main quests pull you out of the mmo world, which is why the side quest girl died (I bet she could respond later though).

I liked the BOTW physics jump trick, and then the second dungeon... wow lol.

We figure out a few things from this.
1)This is foreign game or a game with a many foreign developers. Haga and the bunny-things remarks make me think foreign game. There may be QA testers from other countries in the game as well if the company was trying to test the network capabilities too.

2)This is a pretty early build of the game, as this dungeon would not clear japanese censorship standards (as noted by the characters) and have missing jp voices. The subs mistranslated something here when they talk about the dildos not being a "calculation bug". The actual line is "This is a rating issue, not a bug." As is, Japanese rating standards would put this as an Adults Only game, basically destroying its profitability (for example, GTA is gutted with censorship before being sold in Japan).

(*The amount of violence and presumed sex possible in this game would probably also trip the ratings, but thats just part of vr worlds in anime I guess? maybe they'll get into that more)

3)The prior point about JP voices not being implemented suggests that this quest might be the developers sneaking in a cheeky quest. The fact that this quest isn't suitable for Japanese markets would have been caught in the recording process for Japanese dub. OR, all dialog in the game is ai generated (at least the non-railroaded quest dialogue) and this character is missing the coding to use Japanese voice synthesis.

I really like the show so far, especially with how serious they take the debugging experience. The subs however were very suspect this episode, and as always the storyboarding led to some weird shots.

I appreciate easter eggs of any kind in games even if they are explicit like this, but you DON'T put those in the middle of the main quest where a random 10 year-old playing your game has a chance of finding them! 😂
I guess they were intended to be an easter egg, but someone messed up the trigger for the boss fight and childhoods would have been ruined if not for our team of debuggers (We don't care about the childhoods of NPCs. They were not supposed to be able to get there anyway.)

On an unrelated note, should the Super Jump be considered a Glitch?
Glitches don't have that big of an impact. There are usually purely visual or fixing themselves soon after triggering or interacting with the glitched object.
If it seemed like they where launched, but a few moments later, when the server sent them their true position, they teleported back (a.k.a. a Desync), I would have called that a Glitch. Except if the chest was the object glitching out, changing position for a frame or two and then snapping back into place. Haga could use that sudden movement to transfer a great amount of momentum to their characters, but I would still not call the whole thing a Glitch.
What's your perspective? I am interested to listen to more opinions on the matter.

I don't get it. Didn't they say in the first 3 episodes that NPCs and cities just respawn after some time? So why are they acting like Ruu is gone forever when Nikola pretty much died several times.

@ImmortalZero
They respawn and their memories reset to beginning of the story. They have no memory of their previous lives.

Nicola is probably different because she has got Tesla in her in first episode.

What a lie. Everyone knows that if there was an R18 version of the game they are trapped in, it would be only for the japan server not the global version.

What Haga said is that NPCs and villages/cities tied to the game's main quest can be respawned/restored because said main quest can be restarted and played over and over again by players, and if you go and rewatch the final part of the first episode you'll hear him saying that he personally went through the quest where the marching dragons ultimately destroy Nikola's village an awful lot of times and that even though all the characters living there can be brought back to life by restarting the quest, their doomed fate is otherwise sealed (Nikola is an exception to the rule thanks to Tesla's intervention).

However Ruu's situation is quite different: she was a random NPC that presented players a procedurally generated quest (in other words a secondary or even minor quest) in a random settlement that was discovered by Amano, so reviving her the normal way is impossible.

Absolutely loving this anime.

After a thoroughly disappointing Summer, 2024, this and only a couple more have been the icing on what has turned out to be an incredibly unpalatable cake.

The art style is beautiful, it features a truly unique premise, the characters are quirky and fun, the writing is decent and it has some extremely funny scenes. Plus, it gets better and better as each new episode releases.

Can't wait for next week's!

Tesla being a meta ai that isn't very useful feels super ironic in 2024.

This absurdly rated AO boss fight screams that the devs were goofing off. Might not be allowed in Japan but the American release would be okay.

The first episode established that NPCs don't die. The endless loop of NPCs fulfilling their purpose of dying in a quest no matter what the player does but then being born again. Now NPCs do die so that we can have emotional stakes. This show has no internal consistency. The previous episode has them fixing the T-posing NPCs by reporting the bug. But the MC uses bugs that he obviously has reported before in this episode.

What is the purpose of worldbuilding if you change the rules from episode to episode?

As for the treasure chest jumping glitch: remember that Haga said the glitch is caused by botched game physics, and as you may already know that stuff is deeply related to the game's engine so the issue is completely different from the T-posing village bugfest from a couple episodes ago that was debugged overnight because there's no way a problem so rooted in the game's core stucture could be fixed while the game is still undergoing a phase of ''active'' debugging (plus we don't even know if Haga ever reported this bug via his debugger stone).

As for the NPCs stuff: that's just you not paying enough attention so read what I wrote two posts above your own post.

Somebody was being naughty when they wrote the specs for that dungeon. ROFLMAO. Maybe for adults only, a special quest or something. The dubbed version of the Boss was speaking broken Scottish English. Though he got got censored about 1/3 of the time.

Amano coming to terms with Lu's death, and going to Bayle Castle with both Haga and Nikola, they gained a capable debugging ally. The thing with Tesla appearing within Nikola, it occasionally happens and there's no way of telling when she would appear within her. For now, their only hope is to stop the evil debuggers, but with the castle literally in the air, there's just no way to enter the castle. And the idea of infiltrating the castle...by inflicting physics onto a treasure chest to do a glitch, Haga would do that without having to use a debugging stone.

As soon as the trio enters the castle, they activate the main quest by being captured, though their core work is still the same, regardless of scouting or debugging. But in one of the rooms where Nikola finds a dildo and sex toys of all things, this is indeed a bug that needs to be reported, though the head guard speaking in complete Engrish is just the kind of sexual bug for said torture chamber.

What a wild mid-boss.

Hahaha that English was proper! Rarity!

Again, I don't think AI taking over Nikola is trustworthy.

+ As I said the last time, why isn't the world massively depopulated if dead NPCs stay dead, while players go massacring entire towns for fun. Where are NPCs coming from then (guards for instance)? Or do new NPCs spawn in same place but with different name/skin or something? Like, you kill guard named Bob, he stays dead, but in his place a guard called Jack spawns? (Meaning, there will always be guards around). I think that's the case since they destroyed the bridge to the castle. Hopefully the show will answer how new NPCs are made.

Using the chest like that was brilliant.

The jump glitch was probably inspired off that old bug from Apex Legends where you would punch upwards from the inside of a crate which created a bounce from the other side. The more you punched the further you bounced. You could hit the skybox or launch across the map quite easily. Good times.

Here's a video of it in action:

@Avvenirista I think I totally missed that in the first episode, so thanks for clearing that up, it's been really bothering me. Not sure if it's enough to save this show for me though. Might drop here, might not, I need to think about it

This episode was alright I guess. They found a sex dungeon torture room, and came across some dildos magic wands... Amazing.

Also what was up with that guard speaking proper English lol I mean it fits I guess since it's not meant for the Japanese release
