(Originally going to be a review, but since it breaks review rules, I made it a forum post. Contains spoilers for the first 3 episodes)

These were one of the worst first 3 episodes I have ever seen, and the only reason I kept going beyond the first one was due to sheer masochism. It's terrible, horrible, so fucking bad! From the garbage models, to the garbage animation (mouths are particularly bad), to the garbage plot (truck-kun, seriously?), to the cringey reactions and dialogue, to the nonsensical events, such as:

1 - How was Kaito left unscathed by the motorbike accident? How was he able to defeat a trained assassin with his bare hands after such accident? They fell on hard ground at, like, 100 miles an hour! And their helmets FELL OFF!
2 - How did Kei know his number?
3 - Why was he so eager to help Kei in the first place?
4 - If an Ajin is immortal then why do they need to pee (was the pee scene necessary at all?)?
5 - Why didn't the passenger left the car that was about to be hit by a train?
6 - Why didn't the girl steal the car?
Etc.

Ever since I watched Sidonia no Kishi many years ago, I developed somewhat of a taste towards CGI. I was disheartened by the way these anime were treated by people, I felt they had their place and that they could be great if the animation was well done. This feeling of mine was only strengthened by shows such as BLAME! (2017), my most-rewatched anime ever, and GiTS SAC_2045, the latter of which to this day still maintains an irrationaly low score on MAL.

I'm saying all that because, at the core, I really wanted to like Ajin. But it's just so bad. And you know what makes me mad? There is a grand total of 7 Ajin entries on MAL! Seven! All for this horrendous anime. How is that possible? Why is one of the worst of Polygon Pictures somehow the most successful, with the highest amount of seasons+movies? Sidonia has four, three if you ignore the recap. Kuutei Dragons has 1 cour, and that's it. Hell, Houseki no Kuni only has 1 cour too, and less members than Ajin. Nonsense.

It is an absolute shame that Ajin, as a 3D CGI anime, has more members than Sidonia no Kishi (S1+S2+Movie), BLAME! (2017), Mushikago no Cagaster, Kuutei Dragons and Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 combined(!!!), while also having a higher score than all of them but Sidonia S1. It's just unbelievable.

@CrunchyCrobat Irrelevant comment. I have 59 anime rated 10 and 9, there are many things that I like.
@TrillJessie It has an interesting premise. Absolutely horrendous execution. Hard to believe 200k people managed to go past the first few episodes. I'm just baffled at how this acheived success while other much superior (3D CGI) shows didn't.

BLAME! movie absolutely sucks and is totally disrespectful to the manga, and I'd say the same goes for Ajin.

@CheliosX I'm not really a fan of manga, to be honest. I only read source material of my favs, for the most part.

The CGI isn’t that bad, it’s more like the series would have been better off not CGI, which is what most people think of the series. Personally I watched this series years ago and it still has better 3DCGI then a good amount of series to this day, also keep in mind this came out in 2015-2016 and Berserk 2016 came out at this time.

That’s actually crazy that 500 out of their 700 anime watched are dropped, it kinda of ruins their argument in a way, but maybe they just have a strict preference when comes to anime.

I personally liked it because there is shooting, terrorism and torture. And that’s it. In all other respects I do agree with you.

Now, let me try to answer your questions:

1) Don’t you dare to underestimate a Japanese high schooler. If you’ve watched more than, like, 10 anime shows, you should already accept the fact that they’re superhuman.
2) He’s the “smartass” of this show, so of course he’d know.
3) THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIPPPP!!!!!
4) They’re immortal in a sense that they come back to life after being killed. So, yeah, while peeing isn’t necessary, since you can die and come back to life, but it’s just simpler to pee it out and not torture yourself. Kinda similar to eating and sleeping as an immortal.
5) If they left, the execution scene wouldn’t have looked so “cool”.
6) Don’t remember that, sorry.

First time when I tried to watch it , the nature of animation and some other factors forced me to drop it. But , next time when I gave it a try, the storyline forced me to watch both of the season.
It was good for me.

@Dark_Figures
@DarkHomieC
The bad CGI was just a part of why I disliked it. I've watched (and liked) Mushikago no Cagaster which can be considered worse CGI than this.

@RudeRedis
Fair. I like those things too, which is why I was drawn to watch this in the first place. But I was spoiled with the great anime I have already watched so I see no point in wasting my time with this one.

@Avamarie316
It remembers me a lot of B: The Beginning, which coincidentally is also a Netflix Originals. Try giving it a go. Another similar title is Phantom Requiem for the Phantom (the one with 26 episodes).

@DarkHomieC Again, it is irrelevant to this post, or to whether what I say is true or not. Anyhow, I do have a strict preference, if the show is bad I just drop it at once. No wasting time. Also, I haven't actually dropped 500 anime, it's just that I use the drop function as an "ignore" button as well. I don't watch chinese stuff, for example, so technically my "dropped" list is in the thousands. I don't watch yuri, yaoi, romcom, Josei, shoujo, battle shonen, and so on. When I open the page of an anime I don't wanna watch, I set it as "dropped" so I don't have to bother thinking about it again. That's it. To those that have a problem with that, or with anything in my profile: grow up.

It isn’t really irrelevant, when you see a post like this and then see the person also comparing other anime’s and saying how this anime doesn’t deserve this high of a rating, it makes it sound like an elitist post.

So people will look at the account and notice that you have 500/700 anime’s dropped, it brings up if your argument is even valid or are you just rage baiting. I’m not even bringing up you ratings, because everyone had their own opinions; but the way that you worded this post seems elitist.

@Alphadog95 Same here. I watched when it came out and found pretty entertaining from beginning to end. Great pacing and sound, decent story and characters. Saitou became one my favorite anime villains of all time. I dislike 3DCG and my mean score is 6.20, if this says something.

1:don't remember but it's an anime where there's immortal people with giant mummy ghosts so sorry if the realism isnt on point
2:not that hard to remember a number
3:its part of his character he's a cool guy and saw an old freind in danger, do characters need to be phycology accurate, or can they just serve a purpose in a story?
4:ajins work exactly like normal humans until they are killed. so they still need to eat, sleep and yes pee, that's why kato kept killing himself when shot with tranqs
5:concern for his freind, and maybe a fight or flight response, pretty sure alot of people would freeze in a situation like that
6: I don't remember.

Your stuff seems pretty nitpicky, I think it was an incredible idea for a manga and anime, I think it had some pretty amazing fight scenes especially kato vs the police great tention, overall a great anime, yes the cgi was meh as with most cgi but if it wasn't for the cgi it might not have had such a great anime.
