10 - Objectively a masterpiece OR subjectively it just moved me so much that I fell in love with it and couldn't stop thinking about it. Does not have to be a 100% perfect anime/manga.

9 - Same as above but there was just something (minor or not) that held it back slightly. Still up there as one of my favourite anime/manga of all time.

8 - An absolutely brilliant anime/manga but it just didn't have the same lasting impact on me that a 9 or 10 would. But still, really enjoyable, high quality and would definitely recommend.

7 - Could either be an objectively high quality anime/manga but I just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would... OR maybe a trashy show but I really enjoyed it anyway. Or it's just a relatively good anime/manga that I enjoyed but has its flaws. Still would recommend a 7 depending on the audience.

6 - Not bad at all, just not anything particularly special to me. Nothing about it that really resonated with me personally. It was entertaining enough that watching wasn't a chore, but nothing to get me excited either. Not necessarily a bad anime/manga, maybe just not to my taste. Or tbh it could be an objectively bad anime/manga but just got bumped up a few points because I'm a fan of the franchise. Probably would not recommend.

5 - Just a totally average, bare minimum of quality anime/manga. It's not awful but it really doesn't have a lot going for it. I can still watch it and probably get some amount of enjoyment, but not a lot. It's not really even worth watching when there are so many anime/manga series out there that score well above a 5. Would not recommend to anyone.

4 - It's objectively just not a good anime/manga or else subjectively there's just something about it that I hate even if others like it. Maybe there's some parts of it I enjoy but overall it's a drag. Or maybe I just consistently struggle to squeeze a small amount of enjoyment out of it. It's not absolutely awful, but it's just obviously not a good show (to me anyway). I would struggle to understand why anyone would like a 4/10.

3 - Really not a good show at all, maybe there are one or two redeeming factors but overall it's just incredibly boring or badly written, badly animated etc. The worst thing about it is that it's not even bad enough to be memorable, it's just a totally forgettable experience. A real struggle to get through too.

2 - Absolutely awful, as below. But there's at least ONE thing that redeems it ever so slightly, even though everything else brings its score down massively. Maybe it has a good sound track, voice acting or art style. But regardless, it's really just boring trash.

1 - Worst of the worst, total abomination to the point where it's actually kind of impressive how awful it is. You can probably gain some entertainment out of how bad it is. The only thing it has going for it is that it's memorably bad. I probably will never even end up watching/reading a 1/10 unless it's out of curiosity. Could also be a show that I just personally despise for some random reason.
