| I hope Rick's attitude changes; he underestimates himself too much, thinking he's inferior to the rest, which makes the episodes rather dull. It would be better if he became a lively character who reminds everyone that age and difficulties don't matter when it comes to achieving your dreams. The only redeeming feature so far has been the ending theme. |

| The OP is growing on me in a good way...I'm surprised. Rick's progressing well for the E-rank promotion exam...but to meet yet another member of the Diarmuit family, this time of the eldest son Raster, he's just as obnoxious as the other siblings. Trying to pick Reanette up isn't a wise move, but it's clear that she doesn't need anyone else than Rick. He should be lucky that his examiner is someone else, and Links Laurotte has the same inkling as Rick enough to sympathize with him. It's such unfortunate reality that Raster has to oust him and take over the examinees of his group. Rick's luck may have just turned for the worse, but Reanette is there to give him confidence...and a fortune teller of Freed teleporting him to somewhere far, dealing with the guards of the Diarmuit Family,,,and a little help from his Senpais? Rick's training Senpais of the legendary Orichalcum Fist party coming into help him, though with their rather peculiar weapons and the like. they're a real force to be reckoned with, allowing Rick to get back to the test venue in no time to spare. And with Laurotte able to escape alive, Rick has now a goal to defeat Raster with the best of his OP abilities. It's going to be one hell of a fight between Rick and Raster. |

| I'm honestly not really sure why this isn't listed as parody or comedy. It's pretty clear that the anime is parodying some tropes, though some they're playing pretty straight. At the very least, a lot of this is very clearly supposed to be very tongue-in-cheek. You're not supposed to take it for face value or don't take the world as seriously as one might take a typical fantasy. It has my type of humor where you think it's going straight only for someone to drop in the comedy suddenly. Honestly, it's the way I write my comedy, so I'm very content with it, but I know folks don't like it too much. It can't be helped. Reanette kinda cute though. I was thinking a bit about another anime that ended with a romance involving an MC who wasn't actively pursuing the female love interest. I didn't like it too much because there wasn't exactly a real reason for the MC not to be down with the relationship when the female love interest was VERY MUCH willing. I mean, the MC didn't really protest but just kinda stayed neutral until something happened to kinda force the pairing together. It was sloppy and uninteresting. Here, I at least very much buy the idea that Rick finds himself too old for this woman that he's clearly interested in. Apparently, she is 19 years old, so their relationship would be perfectly legal, however this is apparently taboo. I had a classmate telling me about her 20 year old cousin who was dating a 30-something year old man and had been doing so for about a year or so, and everyone in class considered such an age gap to be disgusting. They felt anyone in their 30's going for someone who is "still developing" or who is getting right out of the developing stage is a creep. Personally, though I feel it's important for the younger in the relationship to make sure they're not being taken advantage of or that the older of the relationship isn't just trying to find someone to control, I don't exactly find a relationship between two consenting adults to be disgusting on its own. As someone who fought hard for people's right to marry the same sex and to normalize the idea that consenting adults should be able to do whatever the f*** they want as long as no one is being harmed, I would be a huge hypocrite to and cannot fathom the idea of trying to nitpick and police every relationship and every detail of every relationship even if they're legal and consensual. Making oneself aware of "what ifs" is one thing, but policing relationships based on the idea of "what ifs" is just too much. That was just not the business of my classmates, in my opinion. All that being said, the relationship between Rick and Reanette does have a hurdle and I do actually appreciate that they have Rick have his own hesitations about it. I don't doubt that they'll eventually become closer, but I'm glad there's something there to watch them try to overcome. Something I can understand as well. Additionally, I do like that Rick's hesitation on everything seems to be his doubts because of his age. I'm not sure how old the typical person watching this is, but yeah... the older you get, the more at least I find people thinking, "Man, I might be too old for this". And it's honestly sad. Straight up depressing. I'm really glad that Rick is going for what he wants to do and I think it's really good that they kept his hesitation instead of having a character who has thoughts similar to "I'm 32! So what??" because while it's still inspiring, well... it's the difference between having a character you want to aspire to be like versus having a character you want to root for and maybe grow alongside. I think for this type of story, where there's a lot of room for character development, it's probably better to go the route of watching the main character gain that confidence. We'll be able to see Rick grow in this aspect of his relationships, skills, and so on. I hope. I mean, in Rick's interactions with Links, and the way the story portrays their reactions to what others around them think about their dreams, I think they will at least be acknowledging some of that in a way that's more than just "hee hee har har, old men who missed the train as youths! What funny stuff can we make these old guys do?"-- because they already have. It's just more about how much more growth will happen and in what ways. |
| It's not a bad series, if only they didn't make the MC stupid by nature... There are quite a bit of funny moments, but it's all based on MC being stupid... At least give him some common sense... But it looks like the entire series will be filled with comedy moments caused by MC being stupid randomly and causing misunderstandings, even himself... I really don't think they should give the dude a childish mindset. (Tho it feels like they're going for "Helck" personality that do things randomly like a kid on purpose, except this series MC doesn't seem to be pretending) (however, MC seems to snap out of being stupid when he's with his 'seniors"... like PTSD is his cure or something... since afterwards... he returns to being stupid..) As that examer Laurot said he was trapped in a room TIED UP... so... how did he get out? HUH? Are you sure this dude isn't also in the plot to fuck over the MC? MC didn't find this to be sus at all... . I think I am going to stick with the other old dude series, at least that MC has a sort of legit reason for being stupid. (other series old dude spend nearly 100% of childhood in the woods, barely interact with anyone in the city, actual no education) Whereas this series... dude most likely had education, since he got hired to work as a guild front counter, that requires actual reading and writing... and supposed "knowing adventurers"... which apparently this MC has no idea about Adventurers when he literally worked with Adventurers for 10+ years before he went off to train for 2 years... . |

| I really like that. While Rick is empathetic and good-hearted to the point of naivety, his friends couldn't care less. 😆 I don't believe in acts of revenge, but I would love to see Alice show that little snot what true power is. |

| The amount of tropes in this anime is a little tiring but I loved seeing the team show up. Can't wait for the beatdown. Also those two kids are liars of the worst kind and their idiot brother not only believed it but assaulted people and sexually harassed another. |

| I like how Reanette put that smug prick in his place. The way the siblings whine was funny. I like how Alicette is oblivious to everything. I am looking forward to Rick demolishing that smug man next time. |
