i gave it a 2/10 and i was being generous. not a manga reader and loved the first season, stop the cap bro.

also, one piece pacing is terrible and it isn't slow to be faithful, or for any other good reason, it's just slow to let the manga continue being ahead and for the show to continue being weekly with no filler arcs, for the love of all that is good, stop the cap bro.

From an anime only standpoint (back when I was one) I considered it decent at best. Like it was alright but I found various bits really weird. Like why did Ken suddenly join the people who tortured him. It made no sense.

And then I read the manga and realised that never happened and instead went down a much more logical path.

And after reading the manga genuinely I can’t bring myself to like Tokyo ghouls anime. All 3 seasons absolutely tarnish the manga to pieces and don’t do it the justice it deserves.

I can only hope it gets a faithful adaptation in the future.

But hey I don’t hate on others for liking it. If you like it than that’s cool.

Ok. But it is a jumbled mess that was hard to follow. Right?

Fights and choreography aside what did you take away from the 2nd half?

Had it been adapted like the manga you would be able to explore so much more than you were given.

So it's great that you like the anime visually and it's amazing OST choices but
knowing that we were robbed of events from Vol.8 - 14.

It's night and day for me in comparison.
See the anime is great in creating atmosphere and in that sense everything it shows you is great, but what it lacks....you are left screaming internally as to why that wasn't the final script.

Also following from the previous comment.
I know that Root A was meant to be essentially a stop-gap while the manga was being published. As the demand for a Season 2 outweighed finishing the last few Volumes to 'have' the material to adapt.

Hence Root A also meaning Route as in direction. Kaneki joining Aogiri as a spin-off from the original.

It lacked execution and the ending of the manga was still being developed.

We should have given the series room to breathe around this time and Studio Pierrot should have backed off. And came back in 2 years.

Rather than Season 1 (2014)
and Root A (2015) in succession cause the pay off was not worth it.

It absolutely isn't overhated, it's a perfectly serviceable season if you're never touching the manga but otherwise, it makes you wonder what were they thinking??

It changes 1 thing that seems minor at first but, it untangles into this hot mess of

"Why would Kaneki even join Aogiri? What was he even thinking?"

In the manga, Kaneki sets up a third, smaller group of ghouls that's basically separate from Aogiri and Anteiku.. which makes a lot of the events in Season 2 make a lot more sense

Also I think Rize doesn't get as much screentime but honestly my memory's kinda hazy on that

TL;DR they scrapped the third faction that Kaneki starts that's separate from Aogiri and Anteiku in favor of.. Kaneki joining Aogiri??

It's fine as a stand alone. Taking everything into account, It's one of the worst adaptations in anime history. Also the art in the manga is much better.
Luckily with such a catastrophe for his first big series. I assume Sui Ishida won't allow the same crap when Chounin X is adapted.

I felt the same but then I read the manga… oh boy was I wrong..
They made Kaneki a very hollow character in my opinion and basically made changes that made no sense
Let’s give you an example, in the manga he doesn’t even join the aogiri tree, (which he does in the anime) instead they’re his enemies… the anime also removes some scenes (such as him giving a beating to Ayato) which I think makes him a completely different character and just fails to show how much he’s changed because of all that he went through
The anime just makes him an edgelord and all the differences they added just make the plot really confusing and nonsensical

Manga was perfect. But I can't say same thing for anime. It wasn't bad but I expect more detailed scenes. For sure, opening song have the most perfect melody which I ever heard.
