| Although Gundam is a mecha franchise targeted towards males, with male leading characters in robots fighting in action against evil in a science fiction universe, you would normally put this the shonen category. But this particular series Wing, yeah it does has male leads, fights and stuff, but does this particular series seems a little shojo? The main 5 characters have that bishonen pretty boy looks, some romance and the Gundam with the wings, which seem to come from some magical girl series. I also heard this series was created to target more female viewers for Gundam. What do you think? Is this series painted with feminine aesthetics? |
| I feel 00 is the most feminine. As fans often say that Wing resembles 00, I guess that makes them both feminine. One must wonder when it comes to posters like these. Unfortunately, I found myself bored watching Wing. |

| @Lucifrost This poster is not W from the TV series. It is an illustration of the OVA or movie version made after the TV series. This illustration was drawn after the TV series was confirmed to be popular among women, so the composition is one that women who like BL would like. You are at such a level that I couldn't tell if they were from the TV series or from the illustrations, which explains why I thought they were “boring”. It is said to be a Gundam made for women because the director in charge of the first half of the series made a previous work, “Samurai Trooper,” which became popular among women, and the setting of W was similar in some aspects to that. Well, the manga version was serialized in “Comic Bonbon,” a magazine for boys, and at the time of its broadcast, not only women but also men enjoyed watching it. It was not so relentlessly called female-oriented as it is now. |
