You could. Besides Part 1, this is the second easiest part you could go into without knowledge from other parts. However, your experience is enhanced if you’ve read the other parts, as there are certain details and references that allude to those parts. They’re also just good, so I’d recommend them regardless.

This^^^

There is no reason not to read the other Parts and it also enhances the experience of Part 7.

Yes, part 7 is a hard reboot in a new continuity.

You don’t have to read the other parts to understand this one but just out of curiosity, why do you wanna skip the parts? They’re great, I honestly can’t think of a single part I didn’t like personally.

Yes you can, all you’ll miss out on is references to earlier parts that don’t meaningfully contribute to the narrative. Don’t believe anyone who says otherwise.

Parts 1 and 3 are difficult for some people to get through, starting from part 7 is a perfectly reasonable way of getting into Jojo’s.

You should read things because you enjoy them, not because they are highly rated

You are on part 1 and can't wait? I watched the anime from start to finish and started again on the manga. It's not a course enjoy the story because JoJo is one of the few stories that I say the lore is worth the investment.

lmao OCD I guess, otherwise reading JoJo part 7 without any basic knowledge of other previous parts is an absolute no-no.

Araki (jojo creator) said yes, you can, but you can't understand references to last jojo parts and at the ending, there's one thing that is big reference to last parts. Also, it will be difficult to understand stands

I believe anyone can start from sbr if they don't have much time but I swear if I hadn't consumed from part 1, ch 90 and onwards with the references enhanced my hype and I literally just screamed when that iconic scene happened.

please don't do this
the other parts are as awesome as this one
it's just that people like this one more so then they skip the others
please don't do this even If people say that you can
you will lose the references and it would be more fun after reading all the parts

No, I don’t know why people are saying you can. It’s a new continuity but it’s very much written with the assumption that you’ve read the other parts. Mechanics are barely explained because you should be familiar with them and there are a lot of references you won’t understand. I don’t know why you’d skip parts anyway, if you don’t like the series then you won’t like part 7

Sure, knock yourself out. This part was intended to be a reboot of the franchise of sorts.

Steel Ball Run wasn't even advertised as a Jojo manga when it first came out in Japan.

All parts are great. Consistency and never having a dull moment is what elevated jojo for me as one of my top 5 animanga. Part 7 as an experience will be elevated by the previous 6 parts as there are many call backs to previous parts and concepts that are carried on from previous parts. You won't get the full experience of part 7 without them even if you can understand what's happening. Steel Ball Run is a masterpiece that should be experienced in the best way possible. Patience is a virtue and it's not like you don't have the time.

Yes. There are some Easter eggs but you don't NEED to watch the first 6 parts to enjoy the masterpiece that is Sbr, although it'll only make your experience better if you watch the parts before it first.

Personally, I would recommend watching through parts 1-6 for the storyline, but you could start from part 7 since you don’t need prior knowledge from previous parts. Once you catch up to part 9, I’d recommend watching Parts 1-6 if you want more Jojo content.

There really isn't a principled stance on why you shouldn't skip parts, but there's a small chance you might regret it.

It's not like watching Aliens instead of Alien, or watching T2 Judgement Day instead of The Terminator; It's more like watching Prometheus, or starting any other franchise from a reboot for that matter. A lot of people got into Mad Max through Fury Road.

People get really flustered about JoJo, but it's not out of an actual principle. They just like the series and are mad you're not giving it the commitment they think it deserves.

You can but imo the magic of early steel ball run is how reference heavy it is to 1-6 esp in the beginning. A lot of people think early sbr is super boring but I loved that aspect about it. I think I love part 4 as much as sbr personally and seeing how araki evolved from part 1 to 4 and to 7 is something really cool. If ur struggling with part 1 I get it I’m there with u but I also really love part 2 and 5 was great

You can, but you shouldn’t. The other parts are all really good despite part 7 being the best of them. I liked parts 4 and 5 almost as much as 7 like i rate 7 a 9/10 and the same with part 4. And i rank part 5 as a high 8/10.

People like part 7 so much partly because they can appreciate the series as a whole in a very specific, very “jojos” way. I fear you won’t appreciate the show at its full potential if you skip parts.

Yes you can. Close minded Jojo fans will tell you no and that you need to start from the beginning which is a lie, even Araki said he made this new universe so that new fans can start off from here. If you're interested in how things go you can read the previous parts as well.

You actually can, but one of the most exciting parts refers something in earlier parts (that you would hope so much to see, and when that thing happens you will almost cry for satisfaction)

I wouldn't, I believe araki's outlandishness in his storytelling is much more appreciated when you watch how it evolved through the series.

Technically you could, since it's a reboot. However i would suggest you not to. Since other than a lot of references and cameos to the previous universe, even the powers and battle system is the same. You wouldn't be able to fully appreciate the new abilities introduced in this part since you could not compare it to the previous ones.

@thischeetobussin for me, though i don't want to offend anyone, season 1 and 2(tho i didn't finish it) felt extremely boring and it just put me off, the story kinda felt all over thr place so i didn't have the will to continue, so i jumped to 7 and it's honestly going decent, just feels better.

@Blueberry173 it feels like you're not interested in watching JoJo at all. Part 1 being boring is understandable but part 2? nahh that an L take. then you skipped to part 7? Jesus people nowadays have low life span in watching/reading shts. I suggest you stop watching or reading jojo the show is not for you and that's ok

@shrade117 don't worry my attention span is very good as a medical student lol. I have watched/read many slow burners and most of my favourites are like that too, so that is definitely not the problem.
As i said i dropped s2 quite early, mostly because it still couldn't keep my interest because of s1 being such a slog, well yeah jojo is definitely not for me but short attention span is definitely not the reason.
