@TheRedComment Fair enough, but who actually has the authority to set their definition in stone?
It's a term continuously formed by different opinions, just like many others.
@Zarutaku

In terms of canonically assigning value to fiction, we have to refer to literary critics. When it comes to cyberpunk, Gibson and his contemporaries are THE authority.

My argument is that it isn't consistent with the forefront themes in Akira; childhood experimentation, psychological trauma, inherited memories, supernaturality.

@TheRedComment Perhaps you're right, but regardless of who holds the sovereignty of interpretation, I would assume that most people associate cyberpunk with a futuristic urban setting and characters who act against a higher authority, though there may be very few outliers that don't have both.
However I wish you success in your endeavor of correcting majority opinion.

@SoloNecromancer

You are a bit late to the party. And I think it is wrong to add "themed" after saying cyberpunk.

@JoeChip
yeah it's really a sub-genre but the guy is fixated abt the (vr cybernetic) which one of imp the elements in (Cyberpunk world), without it he said it's a paranormal category, but there other imp stuff which strongly makes it Cyberpunk genre, but this story doesn't involve in any cybernetic computer tech stuff, it goes on a diff route to unleash the other side of the sci-fi genre. and especially akira character is not a techie person to show tht , he's just a street punk 👊
