During S1, Aoi tells Tomozaki one of his objective is to get a girlfriend.

He object saying you cannot just get a gf just for the sake of it, that he cannot just go out with someone he doesn't even love or like, and she replies that it's indeed the case, he can, it's the normie thing to do. A normie just wants "a girlfriend", and going out with one is just a tick on their checklist, and he has to do the same.

But then, during S2, Tomozaki tells her that he's not going to go for a girl he doesn't have feelings for and such, and Aoi agrees with him.

This contradicts the premise in S1. What's happening here.
What happened to "going out for the sake of it with 'a girl' you don't necessarily know you like, because that's what normies do".
Whas that all a lie.

Honestly, it is better the way it is in S2, when I heard in S1 that that shit "was normal and everyone does this" it took me aback quite a bit because no way the majority of people just want to put a tick on their gf checklist (I know I didn't act this way in highschool and I can say the same for a lot of my classmates), so I was curious to see the developement, and now it seems like they just backpedaled on it. Sheesh.

You may need to revisit the final 2 eps of S1 which center around this objective. I saw that whole thing simply as character development for Tomozaki. At the end of S1, he had enough confidence in himself to decide what he wanted to do and what he did not want is any sort of fake relationship. He could have easily confessed at the festival but he didn't cause he was able to think for himself. Then that final argument btwn Tomozaki and Aoi at the very end of S1 is what led them to see eye to eye on the issue, hence the new approach in S2.

Yeah, agreeing is a bit strong in this case.

Both acknowledge that they have different methods and pursuing the matter further is not beneficial for either of them because they understand each other's character.

Episode 2 just confirmed it: Aoi is inconsistent.

"Letting bullying go is okay"
*friend is bullied*

@FullyCharged Isn't it normal to care more about your friend than a stranger?

@MaouHero

It is, but she argued so hard against Tomozaki intervening when the other girl was bullied, and basically said that if the victim is passive to the act you have to let her be bullied.

Then her friend gets targeted despite reacting and she completely changes character.
If she was truthful, she wouldn't have helped, because, her words, the bullied has to fight for herself, and in this case, she is fighting, so why worry? She is defending herself.

Aoi clearly set a double standard, where she tries to be indifferent until she cannot.

i think the main lead heroine character is getting shit. it's somewhat becoming unwatchable. she just trying to control him like some puppet for her self satisfaction. i think season 2 is not going to be good

She said she wouldn't help when the victim is not even trying, but will help if the victim is trying but not able to. Tama is trying to go against the bully so that's why Aoi is helping.

You are just now getting this. It is obvious that she is trying to turn him into her ideal boyfriend. The thing now is he is starting to think for himself which may or may not be part of her plans ... But that's just my opinion.

@FullyCharged that's the point
I think it has been quite a bit foreshadowed in s1 that Aoi's method of doing things, isn't exactly the right way
still so far it always provided results
but now it is a lot harder for her to "look at the bigger picture" when she's directly involved
(I am not reading the manga btw, so I might or might not be right)
